10 man limit opening morning, 5 birds this morning, usually we keep them all teal season with 4-8 man limits every day, never seen them leave so quickly after opening day

Any reason for a game warden to take a couple of ducks from a hunter other than being over the limit? We were doing work at our deer lease and at the end of the road the warden was checking the teal. Ole boy walked to the back of the boat with a mess of teal (couldn’t get an exact count) and the warden had two in his hand and put em in his front seat. We pulled up at the end of the exchange so the ticket could have been already issued. Believe it was 4 hunters in total and young guys

Could have been wood ducks or they could have been looking for lead

Wouldn’t be the first time duck hunters didn’t want to eat them and just gave them away. (I know teal eat well but still) Possible they knew each other? I’d think that would be frowned upon due to optics but who knows.

Not necessarily.

They also could have had 1 hunter who wasn’t legal and only claimed two birds.

Friend hunts South of Hopedale. Saw a few flocks of 3-5 birds flying but never fired a shot. Sadly, it seems like duck hunting in LA is getting worse every year.

Could have been to test them for something. Fairly common when fishing. I’ve been asked a few times to donate fish if they’ve stopped me or seen me cleaning a bunch

Watched a guy get rung up when his kid said: “my dad shot all my birds”.

Gotta have you story straight.

One didn’t have his stamp, license, etc. Kids were probably cooperative and he took the two the violator shot.

Venice was piss poor. More people than birds per normal.

Did not even hunt sunday-went and smoked trout and snapper and was on road headed home by 12.

More GTRs this year than I ever remember. Hell 2 of the spots we paddled into on the Refuge has GTRs in them... Feds were out in full force busting their butts to, which was nice to see.

Trout on the inside or outside? Did a work day Friday and found a handful of specs in our 2 hours of fishing near the camp. Just off Pass a Loutre. Seems like they are just on the verge of being in the passes.
