depends, I wouldn't flinch at a Tundra in the 150k range and probably not approaching 200k if it checked out otherwise and the price was right

I don't have recent experience with Ram/GM/Ford but I think I'd cut those numbers in half if I were looking at those

I don't know your budget or size requirements, but set your location to 70569 and set your search to 400 miles.

It will avoid basically all rusty vehicles.

My eife is either getting a new rav4 or a few year old 4runner or GX460. All are basically the same price. Though I am looking at the pathfinders now that the CVT is GONE.

For a truck... Oof. If it's a 5.0 from ford, a 6.2 from gm, or a ram 5.7 I'd consider 80k or less.

If it's a tundra or titan, I'd be cool with guying either to 150k...after scoping cylinder 7 on the titan

You can get a whole lot of truck with a used titan for cheap.

My numbers for mileage may be different than most, but I intend to keep a vehicle to 300k miles.

Drive them. If it feels tight as a drum and has no leaks, mileage doesn't really matter to me.

High mileage Tundra = fine. Any American made over 100k, be wary.

Go to CarGurus and expand search to 200 miles.
That should give you a good idea.

"I’d stay away from the GM 8spd. Especially ones around 100k miles.

$6500 to replace."

Just replaced my 6 speed on my 2018 last week, $7100. That truck shifted like crap after 20,000 miles.
What's funny is when I brought it in for service, they said the transmission oil was fine and they didn't need to change it. When it stopped shifting, they said I should have had the oil change. I told them to look as service records and they got quiet. My brother 2020 didn't make 70,000 miles before it ate a transmission.

Depends on the price and truck. But I personally don’t want to buy a truck with more than about 30k miles. My Tundra had 8k when I bought it.

Seems like anything under 40k has 100,000 miles.

have not looked lately so I don’t know the answer but last year when I bought my truck (new Tundra), used were more than new.

It seems things have gone back closer to normal.

Brother, long time no talk.

My wife also recently totaled her vehicle. We quickly realized we wanted a full size/Yukon/etc, but we didnt need a full size with only 2 kids. We seriously considered when we need full size SUV, we would get minivan. The full size SUV market is just stupid. We ended up buying new mid size.

As for mileage, I once bought a 2008 Sierra with 130k miles when I was in need of a truck and not a lot of cash. I knew it was a time clock. The difference than today is price I paid. That truck made it to 190k miles and started with transmission issues. I got out of it at 200k miles.

Don't know what year range you are looking for, but:

One thing to consider is the safety features of the newer trucks. No question in my mind that lazer cruise control and lane change warning save lives.

I use that cruise in town with all the sudden stops and things.

Unfortunate that you need one ASAP, but best bets now is when a new model comes out and they dumping the old ones. That's how I got mine in 2019.

I may just sit on not having a truck till the end of the year and see what happens.
