Really varies motor to motor. Mine has 180 hours but a lot are bowfishing hours. Between 5-7 hours of idling each trip. That adds up quick.

Air cooled v-twins like those used in outdoor equipment can last 5,000+ hours with only moderate maintenance. If you are the type that really maintains their stuff then probably double that.

It isn't the motor, its all the other crap that breaks on these things. Seals, shafts, belts, etc. I just don't see the cost savings of buying used with these. A lot of these sit in a barn or a boat slip where they detoriate, rats chewing on stuff, and are neglected.
I've owned two mud motors and currently own one. Bought all new. When a used one with below 75 or 100 hours cost 4500 to 5500 and I can buy new for near 6 it just doesn't make sense to me to go used route. The minute you buy that used one you replace the seals, service it, change the prop etc and your close to cost of new.
No joke some of the listings on mud motor talk are at list cost and they say well you don't have to pay tax or wait.

If it's a stock engine, it should be good for 1000's of hours. I have an 8 year old Mudbuddy with probably 400 or so hours(my Tiny Tach crapped out several years ago and I never replaced it). Mine has never been in the shop once(knock on wood). And all I have done was change the oil and fuel filter.
My rear main seal has started to leak a little oil, but not enough to worry with yet. It doesn't drip or anything, just see some oil around the seal.

We usually get about 125-150hours on a clutch before it needs replacing. This is on a prodrive that is exclusively used in salt/brackish water. It is maintained meticulously but those darn clutches just don't last. The motors are pretty bulletproof if left stock.

All depends on care and maintenance.
