Foot, u coming nawf any in the semi near future?

I was up there on Sat for family Christmas, the week before for some deer hunting. I am trying to hunt on Franklin tomorrow afternoon with my 5 year old, but hell I don't know. Work is not calming down yet, usually it lays down by now.

What you doing, just shooting yotes.

For the most part, watch what the ducks in your area do, and match that with matching decoys. Listen to the ducks in your area call, and call like them. Success. Oh yeah. And hide. Really well.

I do agree with scouting a lot, especially public land.
I let every group of ducks tell me to call or not some ducks just eat it up, some flare like you shot at em, shite, you never know what or where or why the ducks are there. You could have locals bumping around, migrators gliding, marsh shovelers over your rice, ducks that are seeing their first mojo ever, ducks that think a mojo is the devil who the frick knows.

Yep, I'm the Chairman of the YEC on Nascars place. That's "Yote Eradication Committee".

We need to visit.

Hunt Biloxi WMA. Used to get out there super early and set up. Not anymore. I leave the launch at 6 and ride around an area that's holding ducks. Went yester day with a buddy. Got s late start and we had to be back early. We only shot 6 greys, but was due to poor shooting. The pond we hunted had about 80 grays in it. Set up and they started trickling back in within 10 min. Where you set up is more important than how early you get there.

i agree with this assessment for biloxi. ideally you can scout the day before and catch the morning flight as well, but if you're going in blind don't waste your time getting up at 2AM. it's a long arse ride in the dark.

I normally use about 8 doz decoys most without paint, some without heads. I just place them out according to wind and marsh features. Then kill ducks, I still use mojos yesterday was the first day I saw perhaps a weariness to them this year. Hunting big water more decoys and motion make a tremendous difference! Also doing things a little different than everyone else also helps.

We watched green heads and sprigs flare off a mojo all morning a few weeks ago....

Turned it off. Whamo.....plus changed angle on trolling motor

Where I hunt... what is a greenhead? Closest we get is ones that smile at you

That being said neighbor killed one Saturday. I figure on about 1-3 a year where I hunt. I am not afraid to change anything in the set up if it's not working.

If the ducks holding your area are in groups of 8 with each duck about 20 yards from each other......well don't put two dozen dekes a strings length away from each other
wouldn't those 8 attract more? If your theory holds true of other ducks joining, so wouldn't it matter on when you look? Before or after the ducks join em?

That's why you don't put the 8 blocks right in front your blind....

Sometimes ducks work 100 yards away from live ducks too...reason generally more than I have time for right now
