Will a stud finder find them?

What floor decking do you have? If they really want the safe they can and will just cut the flooring out and take the safe with the subflooring.

Probably not. The subfloor is probably too think. You can try it though and see.
Id figure out some kind of way to measure from something you can find both under the house and inside it in the room you want to put it in.
Or, just bolt it through the sub floor and put piece of angle iron bolt to bolt under the house.

You can take a neodymium magnet, tie it to a piece of string and drag it on the floor. It should find the nails/screws holding the decking to the joist and grab once it detects metal. That will get you pretty close to center of the joist.

If you have a friend that is a metal detector hobbyist, ask to borrow his pin-pointer. It will reach deeper than a stud finder.

I tried using a stud finder to bolt my safe down but it kept going off every time I picked it up.
Sorry I couldn’t give you any serious advice.

Keep drilling until you find something solid

Yep. My house on a concrete slab. I did not worry with securing my safe to the slab................and would challenge any 10 men to drag it out of my house.

They ain’t going to drag it out the house, they will tip it over on its side and attack it with a crow bar at its weakest point , the sides , bolting it to the floor slows this process down a bit

If this were a serious concern I would not bolt anything to the floors or the walls I would move. Why do y'all insist in living in areas where these types of concerns are real? Move. Its cheaper than living in an area where its a legit concern that someone is going to enter your home, tip over your gun safe and attack it with a crowbar. I grew up on the west side of Atlanta in the 70s and 80s when crime actually existed in Atlanta and we did not lock the doors most of the time and in 25 years I had a riding lawn mower stolen out of the front yard of a rental house between tenants. A kid down the street saw it, crunk it up and drove it to his house to cut their grass. I can't imagine living in a neighborhood like many of y'all must live in.

Have you not heard about the South Americans who target upscale neighborhoods?

If you can afford a gun collection that would warrant a safe it makes zero sense to house the damned thing in an area where someone stealing it is a real concern. How that could possibly be controversial or worthy of being down voted is beyond me. If you have a gun collection that warrants a safe and can only afford to house it in an area where someone stealing it is an actual concern you should sale all or part of it and move the frick away to an area where you do not need to worry about someone stealing whats left. Its asinine to house anything of significant value in an area where crime is so bad that you have to bolt it to the fricking floor to keep people from walking off with it. Seriously, its insane.

Yes. They have impacted about 50 people out of 330 million. Pretty unlikely to be an issue for anyone.

Dude, if you are going through the expense and trouble of buying and installing a safe, spend the $5 and 10 minutes and bolt it to the floor
