I saw this in the LDWF waterfowl hunting survey.

I haven't been duck hunting long enough to say whether or not they have had a negative effect, but I am curious to know what some more seasoned hunters think.

I think a lot of it has to do with public land. Guys stacking up on top of each other, setting out 10 mojos, along with other frowned upon practices. One group of "minimalists" might get set up on top of by some "badarses" and feel as if the other groups mojo is flaring the ducks away. As far as banning them, I could care less, I havent used a mojo for a few years. In my opinion, those ducks have seen spinning wings from Canada to Louisiana, and I just dont see them being useful for where I hunt, others might find them useful in their areas. I am all about motion on the water.

Well I spent $180 on a flapping speckled belly decoy this past season, so I would be pissed if they outlawed motion decoys...

mojos hurt my chances when Im hunting big ducks but, I use 4 when I hunt teal. Its just so much easier. So yes, I would mind if they band the mojos.

Decoys too. Do you use decoys?

Sorta apples and oranges IMO. A mojo is very distinctive and noticeable. I think after awhile ducks realize they are fake. Moving decoys on the water look more realistic.

I don't like mojos. I don't use mojos. I don't think they should be banned.

Dont care either way, only use them in Teal season. Sometimes early light during big ducks but pull it when the sun comes.

Exactly but the same result. They definitely do get decoy-shy. I never used a mojo but I do pull decoys as I get more into the season. By seasons-end I only have a few here and there.

Geaux I see where you are coming from, and yes I do use decoys. I probably use fewer decoys than most, all about the location man.

Either way is good with me. I have killed ducks with or without.

2nd thought, Ban them that way I wouldn't have to keep up with batteries, wings, set screws, poles.......ect.

So true! That's one reason we never used a mojo. Our place would make a man think he could call too.
