Just finished cleaning off my four wheeler to put up in the garage, and i must have killed it while still in first gear, bc now i cant get it to shift into neutral to crank it. Any idea how to fix this problem? This is the first time this has happened since i bought it brand new 3 years ago.

Get on it and rock it back and forth while hitting the down shift button.

Maybe try getting a buddy to try and push and rock it forward and backward some while you try to shift.

Rocking it always worked for me. Try rocking it harder.

You try to crank it holding the brake down?

My 90 Fourtrax would sometimes do this in reverse. I got tired of rocking it and bypassed the neutral safety switch. It will now crank in any gear and neutral. If I can't get it out of reverse I can at least crank it and go in reverse to where I came from

Install emergency shift lever. Shift.

Never buy another ES or Honda product that isn't a motorcycle or generator again.

There is no kick start. There is a pull start.

I used the emergency shift lever from under the seat. Shifted down and cranked right up.

Get ready to buy a shift solenoid.

Not necessarily.

If it's used in water a lot, he needs to pull the plugs, clean, and grease.

Honda's sealed connectors don't keep water out all that well. They do keep water in really well.

If you don't have the emergency shifter, I think an 8mm socket will fit it to get it into neutral.

Also I've read that sometimes the clutch needs to be adjusted. You can look up youtube videos on how to do it.
