Right now it looks to be only two. If i kill these two quickly will my deer come back? They've been gone since the hogs showed up about 2 weeks ago

Good luck. We’ve been overrun in the last 5 years in South Mississippi.

Those two are probably boars and hanging together. The sows and shoats are somewhere not far when they show up they will stay around and there is no getting rid of them unless you trap them.
If you don’t put feed on the ground you can minimize how much they hang around cus they will stay by people who put feed on the ground.
We have built feeder pens around our feeders and they stay on our neighbors.

You’ve got more than 2 on your property. Keep feeding them heavily and then go back at night with thermals and get them.

Where are you located?

I am not a hog hunter. Though I kind of wish that I were.

Hog hunters are a strange type person. The ones that are into it are all in. It consumes them and they tend to get real good at it real fast.

Find a dude that is into it. He will about four dogs minimum at any given time about 3 to chase and one or two catch dogs. Don't startle those and don't put your hands near them.

The guy I am thinking about does this damn near every night and is still an Engineering manager. I don't even think he claims his kills...just knifes them and leaves them where they lay. Different breed of hunter.

They showed up behind my house back in September. I always kept a feeder out for the deer, but had to quit when they showed up. Instead, I planted cowpeas and vetch for the deer. The hogs make a pass from time to time, but don't hang around much anymore since I quit with the corn.

Wtf is wrong with some of you? It’s still a living creature. If you can’t ethically kill an animal don’t bother killing it at all.

We had them show up one summer on our property. We trapped a half dozen but by the time hunting season came around they had pretty much just past through. We did kill a couple of big ones but havent seen them since.

We've killed 109 this summer. Good luck.

I'm eyeballing some that I hope to catch tonight.

The frickers can get pregnant within 6 months of being born.
They can have 18 in a litter, several times per year. They are a cancer.

It was bad with peanuts. They destroy hayfields, and now they have taken a liking to rooting up planted pines. We added a thermal scope to the arsenal in the past month in addition to traps at ever corner of the farm and cameras to see where they are moving. It's a battle.

My wife's younger cousin is a dog hunter and has 5 Ridgebacks and 6 Dogos. I went with him once...

The Ridgebacks bayed 3 large boars. I have had Ridgebacks most of my life as pets and I am used to their loud voice but those Ridgebacks had some crazy feral and downright scary baying barks. His Dogos were better armored than I was on deployment and when he sent them in it was quick and pure carnage with them grabbing ears and snouts and the Ridgebacks screaming encouragement. It was fricking wild. He moved in and stuck them one by one and it was over. One of the Dogos got cut on his hindquarter and when we got back to his SxS he popped open his med kit irrigated the wound and stapled it up.

I learned it wasn't my bag, I didn't care about the hogs and the dogs clearly loved what they were doing but that cut could have been a LOT worse. I love dogs too much to put them in that situation especially when 3 quick thumps with Barnes VOR-TX 130g .308 would have put them all 3 down with the quickness.

Different strokes.

It’s definitely a difference type of rush. Much more primal.

Imagine the feeling of tracking your dogs and getting closer knowing they have something.

Old friend went with guys off pass au loutre and chased hogs through waist deep muck. It was wild seeing it on video. One of the digs had a vest type protector on and still got slashed. They got some big boars down there.
