Does the VP9 feel 'cheap' compared to a P30? The polymer itself, the slide release, the trigger...just looks a bit more chintzy than the USP follow ons. Does the action feel as good? Slide slap back as solidly?

What? No, it's the exact same gun, but it's striker-fired. EXACT same.

I thought the claim to fame is that It has a lower bore axis, which hardly implies the same gun. No other HKs have that split trigger, the slide release on my P2000 is integral to the takedown and is one lever, the mag release is on the bottom of the trigger guard, the polymer looks like it has a different texture...exact same gun? You blind, that thing looks and functions (outside of the magazine) COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

I was just asking since you're capable of holding and racking them side by side. If they feel the same quality then that answers my question.

So minimal that it's negligible

Because it's their first striker fired gun and it was made to compete with Glocks

A lever you pop out vs a lever you rotate 90 degrees.

Both share the paddle release

The frames are identical. The stippling pattern may be slightly different, I've never looked close enough.

If you hold both of the guns side by side, you think "ok, so this VP9 is just a striker fired P30. The functional differences are so minimal that, to most people, the little things (like the smaller slide release) are not a factor in their choice. I've owned both and they handle extremely similarly. Only really big difference is the much better trigger on the VP9.

It doesn't feel cheap in any way. Nothing chintzy about it.

Uhhh

VP9 and P30 are literally the same gun except trigger. If you want consistent trigger pull go VP9. If you like DA/SA, go P30. It's really not that difficult.

It's 2017, not 1999, so I'll take the striker fired gun

Sold my P30 as soon as I shot it with the VP9

Thanks. The polymer does look identical when photoed in the same light. Crazy how little the slide overlaps the frame on the VP9. I thought the slide release looked like a compromise, but the shape of the catch looks more durable than previous pistols.

I'm guessing the VP9 still has a higher bore axis than the Blocks.

I'm not sure if one design is more robust than the other, but they're both a hell of a lot better than the little tiny thing that comes on Glocks/M&Ps. I do vastly prefer the VP9's takedown - it's much quicker with the little rotating takedown lever.

I'll check and see, but I can guarantee it's not enough to offset the Block's shitty ergos and grip angle

I'm not planning on changing my setup. I'm just getting decent with my hammer fired LEM, and it's fun to have the loudest (357SIG) gun at the range. It does look a bit dated though.

I'd like to have it customized, the hammer and trigger return springs, reduced take up kit...but I can't find anyone I trust to jack with it (that doesn't cost an insane amount).

It's a good, overlooked gun in the CC category. Great size and ergos. I'd stay put too

Not trying to hijack the thread, but this seems like the better deal. the rifle sells for $599 by its self. only $100 more for the 9mm shield, and $130 more for the 45 acp shield. Plus smith and wesson is offering a $75 rebate on the shield.

I was in there Saturday and don't recall the VP9 price, but I think you get two extra mags.

Would take a little work to get used to the paddle mag release.

When does your fix arrive? Please post a review on it here when you get it

What caliber did you go with 308 or 6.5?

Sorry to hijack
