I had an electric power washer and I'll never buy another one. Probably got a bad brand but it sucked air and didn't hit the proper PSI about 90% of the time. Spent more time frustrated with the thing till I finally threw it away.

I don't know why, same as any other small engine equipment. Run or drain out the fuel after use, make sure it has oil, purge the pump section of water, run some RV anti-freeze through the pump for long storage or winter temps. I have a cruddy little Karcher gas pressure washer that is damn near impossible to kill. Keeping water from sitting in the pump is the most important thing no matter gas or electric. Even pro-grade pressure washers will fail if you leave them full of water.

i do quite a bit of driveway cleaning usage with mine. Mines was a troy built 3100 psi i think. Has 2.7 gpm rating. I wouldn't suggest anything less than 2.7. A pressure washer needs to move water, needs volume to be most effective.

Must have gotten a ringer, the TroyBilt one I borrowed from my dad years ago didn't make one driveway cleaning before having problems...

Now I have that little Karcher and a big Subaru-powered Mi-t-m and the Karcher is collecting dust.

anything gas with decent pressure/gpm that will last a long time is going to cost minimum $759 unless you want a cheap one and rarely use it.

you want a minimum of a Honda commercial(GX series) with a Cat or General Pump with the ceramic plungers...

they are both good pumps...but some people talk about Cat like some some talk about Ford trucks...it's a fanboi thing.

I've always dealt with PressureWashersDirect

When Yamaha, who makes a damn good pump, outsources their pressure washer pumps to Cat that tells me something.

Doesn't Cat now offer an economy line?

Annovi Reverberi (AR) triplex pumps are also very good and fairly easy to rebuild.

How do you drain your pump? I've always just disconnected the water hose and the pressure hose, then just tilted the whole PW about 45 degrees to run some water out of the body. Is there actually a drain plug on the bottom of the pump?

The thing I've found that HAS to be done is draining the wand. If you just roll up the pressure line and leave it connected to the wand, that fitting will be frozen before too long.

Mine is too heavy to tilt, I just pull the recoil starter until water stops coming out of the pump outlet. I made a funnel with a male hose end to feed RV antifreeze into the pump then pull the recoil till it comes out of pump outlet. Takes an extra 5 minutes but worth never having to worry about pump internal corrosion and damaged seals.
