Yamaha jet boat 19 foot

I’m moving to Maurepas on the Diversion Canal. Won’t be fishing or wakeboarding. Will only use for the trek down the canal across lake maurepas to the rivers. Looking for opinions if this is enough boat

Very expensive boat and operating expenses. Burns premium gas. Nice rig but you better have a fat wallet.

It's likely enough boat but in my experience jet drives are finicky and problematic. There is a lot of material in a Louisiana bayou for a jet boat to suck up.

Have you considered a pontoon boat for your needs?

This.

I grew up saltwater fishing and had always dreamed of having my own center console. When I started looking at boats the last couple of years I started looking first at CCs.

Living in BR and with family living on the Amite, I realized that the majority of my time would likely be spent on the river, diversion, and lake maurepas with our family - our two sons, neices/nephews, parents, friends, etc. A Cc, in my price range, would only be able to comfortably fit 4-5. I then shifted towards bowriders/ski boats but didn't like how cramped things were.

Decided to go with a tritoon with some decent power so we could still ski/tube. I can hold up to 13. It's been a great boat.

I own a Yamaha 242 Limited S E-Series. It's a great recreational boat and I couldn't be any happier with it. My family loves it and it rides comfortably. Great space, awesome looking boat, and easiest maintenance in the world. 20 minutes to change the oil and replace spark plugs once a year. Those Yamaha engines rarely have problems.

The 19 foot has one engine and one jet pump. For your situation, it may not be the best choice. I don't know much about the Diversion Canal, but if it is full of debris, then you will more than likely get debris stuck in your impeller.

Yamaha does have an access port on the swim deck. You pull a plug and can reach down to the impeller and unclog the pump. It can ruin your day if it can't be done from on top of the boat.

If you move up to the 21 foot boat, then you get 2 engines and 2 pumps. If one goes down due to debris, then you can at least limp home on the other.

A better choice for you would probably be the 210 FSH from Yamaha. Center console jet boat with 2 engines. It is becoming a very popular intercoastal fishing boat. Even though you say you won't use it for fishing, at least you would have a much better value on resale for having a CC fishing boat in Louisiana.

You got 1 of 3 correct.

Most Yamaha boat owners run 87 Octane. The manual says minimum is 86 octane. Like every boat though, non-ethanol is typical.

Operating and maintenance expenses are cheap too. Especially when comparing to an I/O. I would say, it's on par with an outboard CC boat. Easy oil changes and engine maintenance. It's literally a Yamaha jet ski engine and pump on a bow rider.

Yamaha 210 FSH

This looks like the best of both worlds. Fishable, and very cruise friendly.
It even has the curtain thing so the women can pee in a bucket in private.

I like that boat. The Jensen sound system would have to go though. Replace it with JL or Wetsounds.

Is there a Yamaha boat dealer in South Louisiana? I’ve been looking at them since a theead last year. The maintenance seems to be much easier/less. I do wonder how the 2 engines would handle in the wind at idle speeds. I’ve seen quite a few jet boats this year in Grand Isle but haven’t had the chance to speak with them

There are some aftermarket items people put on the Yamahas. Cobra fins and thrust vectors get attached to the end of the pump to help with low speed steering and reduced delay. Yamaha even added, a few years back, an articulated keel.

I have the thrust vectors and a newer boat with the articulated keel and I still somewhat zigzag a little at no wake speed. It's easy to go straight, but if you're not paying attention you'll definitely confuse someone who's coming at you from the opposite direction.

I've got a Sun Catcher X3 22 foot tri-toon that would meet all of your needs at a reasonable price. It will cruise like a pontoon boat but will fly like a ski boat topping out at 48 mph with a Yamaha Hi Performance 200 hp on it. It will pull up an adult slalom skier easily too. Sun Catcher is made by Yamaha and it is a solid boat.

It isn't for sale. I was just recommending it as a good option.
