It's right there. You're making no sense.

It's really not.
Read Section 11 on Page 65:
quote:
Section 11. Sections 3, 6, and 9 of this Act shall become effective on June 1, 2022.
Now, here's part of Section 3 (Page 33):
quote:
Chapter 14 of Title 56 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, comprised of R.S. 56:3000 through 3007 are hereby enacted to read as follows:
Now, here's R.S. 56:3005:
quote:
§3005. Lifetime licenses
A. Louisiana resident $500.00
B. Nonresident $4,000.00
C. Youth resident (any resident under the age of eighteen) $500.00
D. Senior (any resident sixty five years or older) $100.00
So the Act says this Section goes into effect on June 1, 2022, and lists the price of a lifetime license, but yet it won't be sold anymore?
Tell me again how I'm the one making no sense.

Which legislator are you? You seem to not want the public to see the obvious. In lieu of means you get the lifetime license now in the future it covers all the individual licenses.
Call Rep Tony Bacala at 225-677-8020.
Ask him to explain it to you.

I guess he doesn't know how to read either.
I mean, Louisiana is dead last in education, so it makes sense that a legislator wouldn't be able to comprehend this.
Hell, when you have to read all the way to the bottom, the go back up, then come back down to figure out what it all means, it's easy to see how even he wouldn't know what is in it.

For the last time. They are being sold through June 1,2022. Those are the prices. On June 2, 2022. You wont be buying any. The whole purpose of this bill is to generate more revenue to the LDWF that they can use to leverage more federal funding. That happens by selling LOTS of licenses EVERY YEAR. Not by selling one time lifetime licenses.

Was on my phone last night, and now see what you're saying. It's sloppy language either way. The "Prior to June 1, 2022," seems meaningless if they are going to continue selling them.
Then in infant combo: Any such license purchased prior to June 1, 2022,.
I'll have an answer by the afternoon.

Sloppy is putting it nicely. The "Prior to" language, to me, is completely unnecessary. Just say that "Beginning June 1, 2022, the hunting lifetime license will no longer be sold, but all previously issued hunting lifetime licenses will serve in lieu of the basic, deer, turkey, duck, and WMA licenses."
Basically, you can no longer buy a lifetime license for hunting or fishing alone. You have to buy the combo.
In it of itself, that COULD generate more money, because if you had 10 people buying fishing at $300, and 10 people buying hunting $300, you brought in $6000. If all 20 now have to buy a combo license, you just brought in $10,000. That's a 40% increase.

They might have done away with registration of pirogues this time to prevent outcry, but you can guarantee this isn't the last we will heard about it.

I was told amending that out was met with basically no resistance.

I'd be very curious what the yeas/nays count would be with it still included in the bill

Buying four lifetime licenses for the family today to offset this foolishness because we know the individual license is going to be hiked up 2000% by 2030.

You were absolutely right. This is from a back and forth between my legislator and LDWF:
That is why under fish and hunt they will no longer be sold
quote:
We are going away from individual privileges in the form of lifetime. Example hunt, fish, gear like hoop net. All lifetime will be combo licenses that convey every access and harvest privilege.
That is why under fish and hunt they will no longer be sold

It's in the natural resources committee of the Senate right now, so will be interesting to see what comes of it.
I've read discussions on a few Facebook groups where there are people against it. No surprise there, and even less surprising is the fact that every one of them thinks LDWF is just wasting money, or that it's going to go to additional salary money for the top brass in the department.
Amazing how these people look at the top 4 to 5 people in a Department and think everyone, by extension, is overpaid.
Still, there is a lot more support for it than I thought there would be.

So if this passes, my existing lifetime license will now cover all my trawl and trap license if I’m reading it right. I wonder how much the state has calculated to lose off of that every year.
