Has anyone ever heard a deer snort wheeze?

Some friends of mine in the Ms Delta got this video from early December. They hunt the Ms River mostly and a little in Kansas. At roughly the 14 minute mark two bucks go crazy and end up fighting. Thought y’all would enjoy the action and language.

No but I’ve never hunted in a place with 160’s stomping around like they don’t give a shite.

Plus that wheeze sound is hard to hear over my son laughing at farts or my daughters potato chip bag.

I’ve heard in once in the Felicianas. It was the second rut and multiple mature bucks were pushing a doe.

After the arrow flew around 17:40...I realized I was holding my breath and not moving.

Good video....can’t imagine how cool it would be to do videos and have that much fun. I couldn’t make a video like that if I had the last 30 years recorded.

Thanks for posting it.

That 8-pt is a fine deer. I love it when they get pissed and all bristled up. I watched a pretty good 8-pt this yr do the same, brislted up making all kinds of racket looking to whip some arse. That’s what makes it fun IMO.

Have heard it several times in my years of hunting. Crazy how loud a deer can be when it blows

Colorado has so many mules that, yes, you hear stuff like this all the time, even in neighborhoods. They are so mean during rut that if they see you chatting up a doe, something children like to do, the bucks will run across the street to tag the doe in the arse and raise all kind of verbal hell. I once heard a big buck bleat twice(unbelievably loud), the second cut short, as a mountain lion finished the kill. Only caught it cause the dogs were going nuts, found the buck about 100 yds up the hill.
I now know what I did was incredibly stupid, I didn’t understand how mountain lion operated at the time.

I’ve heard it, but not lately.

Son had a young buck wheezing 10 yards from his stand this year.

I apparently live a very sheltered outdoor life.

I wouldn’t base it off that statement. Deer in Colorado are the opposite of deer in the south. They are a nuisance in many cases here. On any given day I have 20-30 large mule deer in my neighborhood.

Serious, why don’t you break out a bow or cross bow and take some down?

I walked out into a wooded tract behind my house one day and heard snorting, whistling and stomping about 50’ ahead of me. Looked that way and it was a doe who was giving me the stink eye. Looked down and saw that I was way closer to her fawn than she was comfortable with.

I’m not joking when I say neighbors do. A gentleman has a stand, feeder, and gsp on an electric collar, very close. It’s the entire west side of this city, not just my neighborhood. Several posters live here and can verify the unreal amount of mule deer. I’m sure just like fishing, if you’re up in the mountains hunting, luck may be tougher to come by. In the west side neighborhoods big mule deer are everywhere. It’s why I was surprised to learn they were edible, I previously heard rumors of glands messing up the flavor. These numbers would not last in south Louisiana.
