Has anybody else been tinkering with their archery setup?

I'm already getting anxious for October.

Trying a new arrow setup. Sirius Supernova 2.0 350 spine arrow with a 100 gr insert and 100 gr tip. Bohning Alpha vanes on top of a wrap. 501 gr total arrow weight at 255 FPS. It's 100 gr heavier than what I'd been shooting so it gives me a little more spacing on my pins so they're not as crowded.

I've been shooting the same length arrows since I was 16. Would tune adjust the rest/nock point until it paper tuned. With these I set the bow level/square and started with a full length bare shaft. I trimmed 1/16" or 1/8" off until it bullet holed then fletched the arrow and checked again. Ended up with a ~28.5" arrow. Magnus Stingers are flying true to the field points out to 30 yards, haven't had a chance to shoot them further than that yet.

I had been shooting Gold Tip Kinetic Pierce micro diameters for a few years. It seemed like they broke every time I shot a deer with one.

What lighted nocks are y'all using? I'd been using Nockturnals. I didn't have good luck with them. Seemed like they'd go through the deer and turn off after if they even lit up at all.

I just switched from Sirius Apollos and Tuffhead broadheads to Victory shafts and slick trick broadheads. I got tired of no/slow customer support from Sirius so I went another direction. I had been shooting Sirius for a few years. I haven’t had issues with the Apollos, but customer service matters to me.

I have a home full bow shop so I’m always tinkering outside of hunting season. Every spring I reset my knock point, paper tune then broadhead tune out to 50 yds.

I need to get a chrono for my shop so I can play with my arrow components to get my TAW 480-500 gr. and still maintain around 270 fps.

I think one of my next purchases is going to be a Garmin Xero. I borrowed one from a coworker and it's freakin' sweet.

I want to try one of these eventually. It just seems like such a sweet concept. I did just put a Trophy Ridge React Pro 5-pin on my bow and I loved how easy it was to sight in out to 60.

Life happens and I seldom get to shoot anymore. I'm lucky to get some shooting in and be ready to hunt once or twice during bow season anymore. I think I got to bowhunt twice last year.
Because of the lack of practice I give myself a 20 yard rule these days. Won't take a shot past it because I know I haven't prepared.
Honestly I need to think about trading the compound for a crossbow no more than I get to put time in these days.
I do miss it though.

I’ve been thinking about it as well. I love the idea of no range finder and not worrying about ranging a deer

I have my own bow shop as well as a garmin chrono. I’m always tinkering. I like working on friends bows too.

I use Sirius Apollos. I have I’m not found their customer support lacking. Recently I ordered the wrong size insert. Sent them an email and got an exchange done in less than a week. The arrows are super tough especially with their ethics archery inserts and collar.

When I first used them, I had the same experience. They were super helpful in helping me get the right arrow spine for my bow, draw length, and poundage.

But when they came out with the Tuffhead Evolution wide broadheads, I asked them several questions via email, Facebook, and phone, and I never received a response whatsoever. Then on my last purchase of Apollos, once again I never got a response to some setup questions I had. I tried via Facebook, email, and phone and never received a response.

I've noticed their Facebook page posts are commented on by all of their field staff members (about 90%) instead of other customers. I'm not sure what changed over the last few years, but I've noticed a big difference in support. The products are still great, but I changed to using a local bowshop for my builds.

I’m actually going lighter with my setup this year. I’ve been shooting the Apollos with a 100gr insert and 125gr iron will head. Total weight is 508gr.
I dropped down to a 100gr head and switched to Zinger fletchings, bringing my total weight down to 473. My new Lift RS is shooting them 295fps. Just waiting for a left handed Axcel driver sight to become available and I’ll be set up.

I shot the Total Archery Challenge event in San Antonio last week and I made some Altra .166 centrum premiers for that. My bow is like 5 years old now and I’m really jonesing for a new setup it just keeps shooting lasers. I put a new string on it 2 years ago and I’ve changed peeps, d loops, nock sets, and center serving a couple times but I haven’t moved anything else.

I shot all the new bows there except bowtech and I want to try those out, this may be the year I can’t resist the shiny new bows.

I got some new arrows in a few weeks ago. A tad longer and heavier than my previous ones. Need to dial in my Boonie with them.
