Handgun cleaning schedule

I searched, but didn't find a thread that answered the question I have.
I clean my guns after shooting, usually the same or next day, but then they might sit in my safe or night stand for 2-3 months before I get to the range again. Should I clean them again before going to the range, or after? Also, if you don't shoot for 2-3 months, do you clean them on a schedule even if you don't shoot them regularly?
Thanks for any advice.

I clean after I run about 100 rounds through. If I take my glock to my buddies and just run a magazine or two through, I'll wait until after the next time. I don't clean them if they just sit for a while

Depending on what you have, you're probably fine.
Revolvers can probably go a year (or more), depending on storage, if you're not firing it more regularly. Semis, I would probably clean and inspect every 6 months or so, but that may be overkill.
If you are shooting every 2 to 3 months, and cleaning right after, you're probably good.

It depends on how long my guns will sit dirty, but I usually make sure they're cleaned up every couple weeks with use.
Then again, I've barely been shooting lately because of ammogeddon.
