Never used it before.

Firearms aren’t exactly something I like to purchase through the internet.

Essentially the only site I can even find anything.

Dealer told me only other option is to order through them, but they have no idea when it’ll come in.

They received 10 ARs this week that they ordered back in October. Completely forgot they had ordered them.

Reliable as long as you buy from someone who has history or is verified. You are probably going to overpay on gunbroker at the moment however. What are you looking for?

Yes Gunbroker is one of the most popular sites for new and used guns. Like the poster above me said. Make sure the seller is someone that has a good rating like an A+ and has multiple reviews and you will usually pay more compared to other sites.

Check Louisiana sportsman classifieds and Armslist. Multiple people are selling .45 1911’s right now.

Yes. Ordered my .308 from a place up in New Hampshire through the site and picked it up from the FFL I selected 3 weeks later (ATF made it more difficult because of the inauguration)

I recently made my first purchase through GunBroker. Only advice I can give from my one experience is give yourself time. It took me about a week but I was able to find what I was looking without the extreme mark up.

I've bought and sold dozens of guns on GB, GunsAmerica, Guns International, and countless other online classified websites since 1994. Buy from a reputable seller who has positive feedback and been a long time member. Do NOT buy from a seller with 0 positive ratings or sales history. Lots of scams going on with people taking people's money. Do NOT transfer money using PayPal as they will cancel the transaction.

I've bought 2 guns from Gunbroker in the past year with no issue whatsoever, with my most recent being a Ruger 1911. I'll confirm what others are saying in that most of the guns are overpriced at the moment, so you just have to be okay with paying probably 20-30% more.

If Scruffy is interested, I have a Para-ord commander 1911 w/ crimson trace grips with about 20 rounds through it that Scruffy may like.

I've seen HK45s and FNX available regularly throughout this surge, if those interest you.

Rule of advise is if its seems to good to be true, its a scam. Vast majority of sellers are honorable people but there is always a scammer in the bunch. I have seen quite a few scams involving Scar 17s. If its seems like a good deal, contact the seller before bidding or using buy it now and ask some questions like can he take a picture holding it a certain way or have a pair a shoes next to it. Click on their rating to see any negative feedback.

Gunbroker is good BUT do your homework before committing to anything.

If you're not a brand snob, you have options other than gunbroker.
I will assume you're not, since you didn't list a particular brand.

The inexpensive Turkish (Tisas/Zenith and Girsan) and Filipino (ATI, Armscor/RIA) 1911's are good, solid guns, unlike back in the past when a "bargain" 1911 was considered a hunk of junk. The Filipino brands, Armscor (which is Rock Island Armory) in particular, have A+ warranties, for the life of the gun (not just original owner). Parts fit and interchange with minor fitting, which you'd need with any brand anyway.

I have a Hi Standard (Armscor), a Tisas, a Para, an ATI, and my brother has a pair of Colts. All fullsize, 5" single stack .45's. We've fiddled around while cleaning, never had a problem swapping parts out across them all, just to check function. Mags, grips, and springs, the three most common purchases, have always been good to go. The Para came with a plastic mainspring housing, I swapped with a generic GI metal one, no problems after minimal fitting.

Functionally, all shoot just fine, whatever I stuff in the mags, and hit paper quite accurately. Some might complain about a trigger here and there, but as it's said, a 'mediocre' 1911 trigger is still a damn good trigger, better than most other styles.

Watch Gundeals dot com, look for the lower priced 1911s. You should have zero issue finding under $500, getting around $400 shouldn't be hard. Figure in shipping and transfer, and find a place that does good tranfers near you.

Good luck finding ammo right now, but I will say this- I've had zero problems with steel cased stuff.

Since you expressed interest in 1911's, and didn't appear to own one:

fitting a part is a fact of life with a 1911. It 'might' be a drop-in, but don't count on it, regardless of brand... the 1911 platform is not like Glock etc.

A couple of years ago I came across a pair of Para Experts in LNIB condition at a local shop. They were displayed in the Used case, but I still think they were actually just old stock, never sold, so sitting and taking up space. So they sold them used, since they were a few years old and Para got absorbed by Remington. All papers and stuff were still there, zero indication of any marks etc to indicate they had been ever used. Price was right, so I bought both and gifted one to my son. Price for both= 1 Ruger in the same case.

Like many other brands, Para put plastic mainspring housings on them. I just prefer metal. So I ordered a couple cheap generic steel GI housings from Sarco. I swapped them out. One Para, I had to slightly file the housing, the other was a clean straight fit. I tried both, the housing didn't matter, it was the actual frame, as it came from the factory. Just enough dimensional difference, and both guns had factory housings that were identical and would fit either one.

If you ever run across this, never fiddle with the frame, always fit the smaller part. It's minimal work, perhaps left to a gunsmith, but the DIY can do it with patience- if it's tight, swipe with a file a little at a time, just until you get a proper fit- and then stop and leave it alone afterwards.
