That's supposed to be tracked by Homeland Security...I know we have been audited and questioned before (for many purchases during fertilizing season) by Homeland security.

Hmm...last time I bought a BUNCH of fertilizer for our deer plots, I paid cash and remember no way they I'd me. Are they suppose to?

ETA-not being a smartass. But I don't remember anything. Is there a minimum?

It comes down to the fact that some American citizens do not trust the president when it comes to gun legislation. You can argue all you want but until there is at least a little bit of trust you will see people digging in on this issue.

Sending mixed signals according to what crowd you're in front of is a great way to make me not trust you.

I love the fact that y'all think I'm trolling right now...

All I said was, hey, check out this bit by the Daily Show arguing against many pro-gun conclusions.
It appears to refute what many on here are saying.

I didn't say it was right/wrong...just threw a different opinion out there.

I'm not familiar with the minimum.

What I do know is that we go through a lot of fertilizer on our cane farm and to buy that amount, you have to have a particular license issued by the Dept. of Ag. and that we were recently audited by Homeland Security.

Congrats...how's that working these days...

Considering criminals don't go through legal means to acquire their weapons, I'd say it's going pretty good for them.

That's fine....everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

Hell, I voted for Obama and I don't trust him on this issue.
And for the record, I don't always vote Dem or Rep...

Exactly, hence why I believe there needs to be a change in existing laws/regulations to hold those providing those gun accountable.

Again, how we get there...I don't know.

Well the fact that the legal system in liberal areas is simply a revolving door doesn't help, but that's a different topic. I do agree that those who misuse firearms to kill others should be punished to the full extent.

Stealing a gun considered attempted murder.

Straw purchases punishable by being charged as an accessory to attempted murder.

That would be a start.

It refutes it without showing the entire story. Picking and choosing the facts that do not show ALL violent crime does not tell the entire story.

You would have to charge half the ATF and the Attorney General.

Will do little but open up a whole new industry for lawyers suing gun owners and gun sellers.

Nahh, I'm not going to push it. It was just a mention because that concept is really starting to gain traction. Honestly, I have very mixed emotions about the issue.

Coincidentally, this was one of my majors...hence why I have mixed emotions on the issue.

It really comes down to risk v. utility - I'll leave that to brighter minds.

Firearm registration is gaining traction?

Tell me again about the background check ("registration") bill passing the democratically-controlled Senate...
