Will post pics in a minute
But this place is destroyed
You drive on nothing but sand. No road.
Camps are missing or destroyed everywhere.
Grand isle needs a lot of work. I’d say a year before stuff is back to normal, at least.
Our camp is standing, but it’s fricked upstairs.

It will take multiple years.

Sorry I misunderstood. I thought you were implying the road was washed out and was nothing but sand left.

I go to the tarpon rodeo and stay at my buddy’s camp every year. Crazy to see the place like this just a few weeks later. Roof survived, so there’s that I guess..

I know him through work if taking about the same guy. Don’t think he has a brother. Crazy from all the aerials that I thought their camp was undamaged but now see a lot more than I thought.

Surprised to see the most damage that was on the West Side the highest we could tell was maybe 4'-5' at the most....we didnt go to the East end of the island but I dont think they got much more than that

The constant wind and waves pounding the beach is what made this a bitch

I have been seeing people say 70% of the camps are gone or just not salvageable, how accurate do you think that numbwer is?

There was already a year long wait to get pilings driven, I highly doubt anything is going to be normal in a year. I am sure contractors will prioritize grand isle since they can do a bunch of jobs in one location, but it is going to be at least 3-5 years before things get back to normal, that is if everyone rebuilds. I predict a lot of lots will be sold.

I think a lot of people are going to build metal awnings and turn them into camper covers or use existing pilings to make camper covers. It’s hard to beat.

I don’t think they are allowing the camper covers any longer

What do you guys call a camp?

I always thought it was 20 acres in the woods with hunting area, but this is an island, right?

That damage is heartbreaking.

It’s possible. It’s the family camp, so you might know him, his dad, uncle, etc. But you are correct, no brother. They got a civil engineer to help them with reinforcing the place and that’s probably why it’s still standing
