It’s been almost 11 years since my Colt 1991 was stolen from me. I replaced it with a lesser arm and have regretted it not long after. Here is my Springfield Mil Spec. No bells and whistles. Just a standard 1911 in good ole 45. Haven’t shot it yet. I’m thinking the only thing I want to do to it is put an extended slide release. Anyone have experience in this area?

Anyway, my wish list just got lighter.

Love mine! Probably my favorite pistol to shoot.

Make sure the new release has the same diameter pin as the stock to insure proper lock up. Also, you might have to remove a small amount of material in the slot of the new slide release where the frame recesses into it. Not much to it.

It's hard as hell for me to close the slide one handed. Sometimes I can't do it at all. I can't even reach the release without turning the pistol in my hand.

I have one of those as well. I put some Houge rubber grips on it. On of my favorite handguns.

Congrats on the new gun.

Technically that is modeled after the 1911A1, since it has a short trigger, scalloped frame, and arched mainspring housing.

Hey Upgrade.... where you pick that up at? I really like that mil-spec Colt and I got a nice ODG military issue holster that's waiting for the right 1911.

$699 at cabelas. Last one they had. I need a holster, not sure what kind. It’s pretty much going to be a fishing and range gun.

Mine came with a holster and mag pouches in the case.

I just picked up a Springfield myself. Mine loosened up some after I shot a couple boxes of ammo through it

Got the same one but the Loaded Parkerized for $699 a few weeks ago, you’re gonna love it.
