Trying not to get in trouble with pushing traffic to another website. I have no affiliation with the below link, just sharing a link to a decent looking boat for fellow build enthusiasts.

I'm actively looking for project boats to rebuild/refurbish. I came across this boat built by students at Beaufort County Community College in NC. Boat is pretty bare, but 22.5 feet long it has great lines and has coosa and divinylcell innerds.

If you're looking for a good boat to customize, this might be a great start.

Scroll through the photos, yes, it is only 22.5 feet, but things get surprisingly bigger than they first appear.

Gov Deals custom boat build for auction.

When I see that it is in Little Washington, NC and I see the county named Beaufort, I dont think of Florida.

I think of Beaufort NC or Beaufort SC.

FYI on pronunciation
Bowe-Fert NC
Byoo-Fert SC

Dang. Thanks for that... Florida was a different project I was looking at bidding. Too many tabs open for my simpleton head.

Probably rentals from government installations? I know a lot of them have rental equipment, the marinas have boats and stuff you can rent.

Damn that thing has some gorgeous lines...traditional Carolina Sportfisherman lines on a small scale. It was at $17,000 at 944 Saturday morning without a trailer. For me, and just for me, that is a pretty steep price for a "custom" boat not built by a recognized builder with a single 90 HP engine and bare bones rigging. To rig it and repower it would send it over the price of a high quality factory boat. I suspect it is well built and the bidders were either involved or knew about the build and want it pretty badly. There is a TON of boat building in the area...no doubt they were heavily involved and it is probably built like a tank and will last for years and years BUT there is no guarantee of that and it is bare bones as being sold and anyone not in the loop on the build could be buying a pig in a poke. Gorgeous lines though....Carolina sportfisherman are nothing if not sexy as hell LOL.

I imagine this one has to be sold at auction to the public considering how it was built - by a community college boat building school. Its a damned gorgeous hull. Fantastic lines and the interior "planking" is labor and material intensive....and looks great. Its at $17K though for a 20 foot boat with a 2.5 foot bracket and a single 90 HP without a trailer. That is pushing market price....so not really a bargain. Gorgeous build though, someone is going to wind up with a damn nice boat for Pamlico Sound....I wouldn't want to pass the inlet in it at any of the inlets in North Carolina except on the perfect day and those often turn into not nearly perfect when the tide turns.

I missed the no motor. I saw the no trailer. $17k for that hull is approaching a high price - it is a bare bones hull and is probably built as well as a boat can be built but it can't have any kind of warranty. Its a gorgeous hull though.

Not to beat the horse when it is dead but damn that is a sexy arse hull! Those lines are absolutely gorgeous and the wide gunwales and rounded transom is sooooooo appealing. Certainly a hull a man would have to turn around and look at one last time every time he walked away from it. There is just about every marine architectural feature that has ever graced a Carolina Sport Fisherman in that hull....and they have always been one of if not the most appealing hulls made. Damn near a work of art if it weren't for the high utilitarian value of those hulls.

$17,000 hull
$20,000 motor
$5,000 trailer
$3,000 trolling motor
$1,500 Garmin
$46,500 all in is below any 21’-22’ bayboat on the market. Resale is overblown imo and I would bet this unit rides dry and is efficient at the fuel pump. The only caveat is you can sea trial it since no motor.

you can add a few things to that…starting with rental and delivery a heavy duty lull and rigging to lift the boat onto your new trailer. Also it doesn’t have a hull ID number so (at least in LA) you have to go thru the process of getting one for a “homemade boat” so you can register it AND pay the taxes on materials used. Then Interior rigging, electrical, gauges, steering and controls, etc…

Nice boat but you’re gonna be $60K plus before it hits the water.
