I started bow hunting 2 years ago - received great counsel from this board:
face mask that does not get in the way when you draw back
thermocell and a case so you can hang it from tree
snake proof boots
limb trimmer
binoculars - I use them to watch bucks in the field
Millennium M25 lock on stands - easy for newbies
a couple of trail cams so you can get an inventory
rope to haul your bow up to the stand
safety harness and life line - THIS SHOULS BE PURCHASE #1
high quality arrow block and practice as much as you can
for deer hunting with bow I like a salt lick or something beside rice or corn to stop them for a couple of seconds
rage broadheads
zip ties or something to place your tag on your deer

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like I have my bases covered for the most part. I need to get a range finder and target, although, I'm not real big on shooting in my backyard as I live in a very populated area.

You may already have your bow rigged out, but you need to make sure you have a arrow rest that will retain your arrow like a whisker biscuit or a fall away with a retainer bar over the top. I started out bow hunting with a rest that had no retention and it caused me to let a few deer get by in my younger years.
This is what I hunt with now and love:
QAP Ultrarest
These are good also if you only hunt with your bow and don't do any tournament shooting:
Whisker Biscuit

This will be my first full bow season. I just learned about permethrin and got some for my clothes-any of y'all use that?

Still waiting to hear? So what bow hunting gear did you use? Oh, and I hope that you have found that "Bow Hunting", is well, the best!

Most every body mentioned the material things you need, the other thing is practice/confidence. Shoot daily. All different angles, ranges, times of day. Shoot from your stand so you get the feel for what it's like drawing your bow while in a tree. Practice while wearing your harness and all of your camo. Congrats, nothin quite like it

I bagged my first ever deer with a bow a few weeks ago. A spike
This year I can hunt and not get busted by does! Going up 4 more feet with the lock on makes all the difference.
Bow hunting is quickly becoming my #1 hunting activity - love the action when it happens

Really light-weight clothes that you can comfortably and quietly move around in for both warm and cool weather. Honestly, taking into account wind when walking and hunting stands is better than spending hundreds of dollars on "scent control" clothes and sprays.
