That's too bad about M855A1. It's such a huge upgrade over M855 in terms of fragmentation threshold. And we can't use hollow points so that rules out a solid alternative with similar ballistic capabilities (Federal Fusion MSR 62gr).

It's fine for fighting ammo, I just wouldn't shoot it casually unless I had spare parts available. I have spare bolts for my rifles and all of them have all Sprinco springs with spares.

Gotcha. Good to know.

Not that I get to shoot enough anymore for it to matter

Very common practice at lake city plant. They are 100 committed to defense contracts first and sale overflow to the public. This has happened at least twice in recent memory maybe more. They win a big gov contract and they fill it first. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary with this move.

If you boys didn’t stock up over the last 2 years, shame on you. I struggled to find 30-06 and 270 rounds in 2020 for deer season.

I’m not unloading 100 rounds a year of .270 federal fusion. I may shoot a 20 round box a year. I may have 2 spare boxes at any one time. That is enough for several years of hunting.

I do carry more grendel rounds as that is my primary yote/hog rifle and those things need to die. I probably shoot 4-5 boxes of grendel eld a year.
