With 22lr rounds so scarce I decided to buy one for whatever may try to make my chickens disappear.

Bought one used yesterday, these things have changed since I was little. I compared the damage to a coke can between it and my 10/22 and could hardly tell a difference. I also pushed it through a 3/4 inch piece of plywood. Thrilled

Is it wabbit season yet?

I used an airsoft gun to deal with this. $30 at Academy, bought a few good cigars, and sat on my porch waiting for them to jump on my car a few nights.

kid has an airsoft gun i been using. Cats DGAF and neither has she. I've even approached her about it several times. She acts like she's going to do something about it but never does.
I told he last time i'm blowing her fricking cats head off with my 9mm next time i see it going after my daughters pet rabbit.

I have a Chinese knockoff of a german Beeman in .22. I love, love, love, love that thing. It is so fun to shoot. It has about 2 1/2 lbs of trigger pull so it's like shooting my deer rifle instead of the crossman .177s we grew up with.

How loud is it? Seems like a 22 with primer only would be quieter.

It is a .177, I was more interested in FPS and penetration than leaving a whelp. You can get ammo that expands pretty nasty once it impacts.

Keep in mind, this will destroy the cat. (Maybe its exactly what you need). Winchester 22lr ammo's box says it travels at 1280FPS.

Granted this is a smaller load, it will still expand and plink around inside off of bones at 1200 FPS.

It is a little quieter than a basketball thrown at pavement (closet analogy I could come up with). I have not experienced a sound barrier crack yet, but I think that's because of the quality of the ammo the guy provided me. I'm sure regular lead rounds will sound about like a 22lr going off in that regard.

I can't get mine to shoot consistently, groups good but the groups shift due to slack in the barrel hinge. New Silent Cat.

Some or the Gamo models claim 1300 - 1400 ft/sec (definitely supersonic). Those models come with a suppressor to dampen the "sonic boom."

They also come with recoil pads and a cheesy scope that might be of some value. We don't use the scope.

I bought one a few years ago for the squirrels that like to sneak into our company warehouse. Never used it for that purpose -- duh womens at the office were almost in tears.

But the younguns in the family love it. Trigger pull is much < that of a Daisy BB gun.

Mine is super accurate with pellets -- not at all accurate with BB's (which I blame on the Chines manufactured BB's).

Anyone own one of these?

Umarex Fusion

Umarex Fusion, a rifle new in 2013 that runs on CO2. Combine the CO2 power with the Umarex SilencAir noise dampener and you have the quietest air rifle that shoots .177 caliber pellets at 750 feet per second. This amazingly quiet pellet rifle uses a bolt action to load a single pellet into its breach and has an 11 mm rail that is used to mount a 4x32 airgun scope. You'll be amazed at this rifle's precision accuracy. It's a true track driver.

I have a Crosman Nitro Venom .22

I use it for pest control around the house. I've killed 4 big arse coons with it so far this year. Along with 2 opossum and an armadillo. That thing shoots clean through 3/4 plywood at 30 yards. Those gas pistons are a game changer.

I have a Umarex Octane in .177. Took about 400 shots for it to break in, but once it settled down it can group pretty tight. Had an issue with the scope, but their customer service was right on top of getting me a new one fast.
