Front load washer

Bought a pedestal for our Samsung front load washer. Can I lay this thing on its side or back to attach the pedestal and then stand it back up or is getting a buddy to help me lift it up the only way? Google searches have turned up a bunch of “while not recommended, it’s ok it taking caution”. I figure it’ll be on its side/back for 5-10 min max.

Had one for a while, never again.

Have a LG on a pedestal. Just place the pedestal where you want it and then set the washer on top. Then make sure the whole thing is level. I can't imagine a reason to lay it down.
And I'll echo the other comment. When this machine dies I'll never buy another front loader.

Come on, guys. That nasty arse slime around the door provides benefits to your well-being.

I have one and when it's done I won't own another one either. Maybe when we sell our house the people will want them as part of the deal.

Owned one once, never again. As the repair guy told me "water is not meant to be held in by a door".

While you're doing this, go ahead and clean the coin trap. Mine had over $4 in it

you can lay it on it's back.
but if i had my way, i would get rid of our front load and get a top load.

Changed the rubber gasket once in our old one due to the mold. Most pain in the arse thing I have ever done. Without the tool to release the spring holding it on, it is nearly impossible.

I'm going to bookmark this thread. I've been telling my wife forever that they're a bad idea. Next time she mentions it, I'll just send her the link to this thread.
Nobody say anything good about them now.

Just get a Speed Queen top loader, official washing machine of TD. We love ours.

They are terrible.
Pros:
None
Cons:
Usually smaller
Clothes never really clean
Sheets never really clean
Towels smell nasty
Smell
Mold
Mildew
Constantly cleaning
Have to leave door open when not in use
Endorsed by Satan
I’d put them in the “kill it with fire” OB category that also contains venomous snakes, tarantulas, black widows, brown recluses, large wasps, killer bees, vegans and members of PETA.

Agreed. I HATE out front load and can’t wait for it to die.

I had to change mine because it broke. Wife thinks something got caught in it and the spin cycle ripped a hole in it. It was a 3 bourbon job for sure. My issue wasn't the spring, but with how the things are made to hide any screws.
To replace the gasket, you have to remove the door. To remove the door, you have to remove the front panel. To remove the front panel, you have to unhook the control panel. To unhook the control panel, you have to remove the top panel. To remove the top panel you have to move it away from the wall, remove the hoses, and unplug it. Actually replacing the gasket wasn't that bad, it was the taking apart of 75% of the machine to get to it that was a pain. Ours is a GE that's about 6 years old now. I hope to get another 3-4 years out of it then replace with a speed queen.

I almost want to sabotage ours, but I am afraid to get caught.

For washers you want something with an agitator. They don't make machines like they used to but the average Maytag/Whirlpool are good machines that aren't terribly expensive.

Don't need a pedestal for a Speed Queen.
