I have had one for almost 10 years now and I won't buy another one either. I find that putting about 1/2 cup of Borax (along with your regular detergent) in each wash load and keeping the door open all the time helps to keep the mildew/mold off of the rubber seal.

Lol, I stirred up some emotions with this post. I’m not a fan of ours either but it is what it is for now. I’ve found that some white vinegar added in the spot on the detergent tray for softener has helped keep the washer cleaner than it was before I was using it. Draining that shite from whatever that little water/detergent trap on the front of the unit is still pretty horrendous, but the vinegar has helped that.
So laying it on its back for 10 min or so to attach the pedestal is okay?

Towels don't stink. No wiping after use. If you leave the door closed, nothing happens.

Everyone of my friends who have the front loaders were convinced by the wife to buy it because it looked cool. Everyone who has them, both women and men, hate them.
You can wash a folded handkerchief in with the other clothes and, at the end of the cycle, the handkerchief is still folded.
I still use the old 20 year old reliable top loader XL Kenmore and have only changed out the dogs on the agitator as far as any maintenance.

Since you say you've already run it I wouldn't lay it down at all. No way you'll get all the water out before you do it.

I’d put them in the “kill it with fire” OB category that also contains venomous snakes, tarantulas, black widows, brown recluses, large wasps, killer bees, vegans and members of PETA.
Wish I could upvote you a gazillion times!!!
