Anybody here ever get cited for something by them, contest or dispute the alleged violation, and not have to pay the fine?

Uncle got to keep his deer he forgot to tag because the green jean donated it to my veteran grandpa and called him “mentally handicapped”. I wanted to slap the shite out of him at that moment, but we all got a good laugh after. He still had to pay the fine.

Also got out of quite a few tickets one day with a bunch of my buddies. We were all 15-16 yrs old duck hunting in a canefield pond. Ol baw said“this is gonna be a lot of paperwork, and I don’t want to miss McDonald’s breakfast. Gtfo of here”

Never really got any tickets though, 90% of my encounters with gj have been pleasant

Several years ago several of us purposely camped at this way out of the way self service campground because we were planning on getting rowdy. Maybe a dozen or so kayakers in the Cherokee National Forest. As we we're imbibing a bit ourselves we watched a quiet family of four, mom and dad with two little kids, get ticketed for an open container on the picnic table. And they were quietly eating dinner!!!

So we're next up and the Park Ranger who has us all caught, asks, if he'd find beer in any of these coolers? They were laying around everywhere. And immediately one guy says no as I quipped yep. To which the Ranger laughs and says I think somebody's lying. Jaws dropped and wallets started to fill lighter until he says, since I don't see any I'm not going to look and drives off.

Thank GOD for Yeti cups, truth telling, and keeping your beer cold. .... etc: late night post'n

I had GJ write me 2 tickets for trapping beavers in my own lake without a trappers license and hunting them at night.

Next door deer hunters heard me shoot my 22 mag and thought I was poaching deer and called GJ.

I’ve told this story before, but years ago right around the time La went to online licensing i got accosted by a green jeans about not having a physical copy of my license while i was in my kayak. The optics of a game warden in a boat holding on to my Pelican while I’m arguing with him about having my license on my phone. Dude took 15 mins to finally back off of me. I mean, I had no fish in the boat, was wearing my inflatable pfd, everything 4.0 that would’ve indicated I was doing something nefarious.

That is the only time I’ve ever been harassed by a game warden anywhere in this state.

Mostly shitty ones, but I did get on the bass one day when ole GJ showed up and wanted to scope me out. I told him "The bite just turned on, give me 30 and you are free to check the whole boat upside down if you want". Believe it or not, dudes laughed checked my live well and left for 45 mins before coming back.

Frick LDWF?

Why mad at them. Without oversight, Louisiana outdoors folks would have made this a place with zero edible wildlife. They would do Discovery documentaries on the wasteland that was left behind.

It’s more about gov control, gov justifying its existence, and additional enforcement opportunity than “saving the deer”.

Those giant corporations are doing a lot more for conservation these days.

quote:

Chevron: Truly a great part of CCA Louisiana and the CCA Louisiana STAR Tournament. Chevron has been the Title Sponsor of the STAR for the last few years while being one of largest conservation partners. Besides STAR, Chevron has helped CCA create over a dozen artificial reefs in the nearshore and inshore area. They are also currently funding scientific research so CCA can better manage the fisheries as well as the reefs in the Gulf of Mexico.

Chevron has committed $500,000 to Ducks Unlimited (DU) for projects along the Gulf Coast of Louisiana.

Chevron has contributed $2.5 million to Ducks Unlimited to help fund coastal restoration projects across south Louisiana that benefit more than 40,000 acres.

Yet, regulations and enforcement and management by many Wildlife agencies have saved the deer.

I think it’s more frustration with game wardens giving out tickets unnecessarily. I’ve seen them cut some slack before but I’ve also seen them write a citation for something that didn’t happen.

Man, regardless of whether you get a ticket or not, you really need to be wearing that.

Back on topic, and I'm sure I will not jinx myself but I have never been checked hunting. I've been checked on the lake many times and years ago I got some kind of warning about not having a signaling device. Had to go buy a whistle.
