You are crazy. A guy in my Sunday school class is a police officer. He's told us the number of attacks on joggers has increased dramatically. And these are in some very affluent suburbs.

If you go running more than likely the most valuable thing you will have on you is what an iPod or an iPhone? If you are willing to get in a shoot out over those then you are crazy. But if you carry a gun and you get jumped then you might get your gun and your precious iPhone stolen. Maybe I am crazy or maybe I am just not stupid enough to worry about having my iPhone stolen.

Its easy to call people paranoid until a tragic event happens to you.

Maybe that is the difference between me and some of you other guys. I am 6'1 and weigh 215 and I am so ugly nobody is going to try and sexually assault me.

That's rather large for a woman, but I guess it works for you on the trails.

I run with my AR at the low ready, lets the criminals know I mean business.

Also gives me a chance to catch my breath every couple hundred yards from the popo trying to catch me runnin' dirty.

Sorry, I've never felt the need to carry while I'm running
You know where HE runs? Makes a huge difference if you're running on a quiet country road or in Central Park.

Couldn't have stated it better...

People like these punks exist in the world. I will not allow some "bored" 16 year old to play God for a day and potentially take my family from me.

Couldn't most carry situations fall under the category of "paranoid"?

Isn't it more a matter of not focusing on the likelihood but not wanting to be a victim even if the chance of that happening is very low?

CBS) OKLAHOMA CITY - An Australian baseball player out for a jog in an Oklahoma neighborhood was shot and killed last week by three "bored" teenagers who decided to kill someone for fun, police said.

Australian baseball player fatally shot in Okla.

Christopher Lane, who was visiting the town of Duncan where his girlfriend and her family live, had passed a home where the boys were staying and that apparently led to him being gunned down at random, Police Chief Danny Ford said Monday.

I don't know how the Australian baseball having a gun would have saved his life. I doubt he saw the thugs coming.

Anyways, when I run, I do not carry anything with me. Maybe my watch? I've never felt threatened while running.

But if you must carry while running, I'm sure you can wear some type of holster on a water belt or something.

Your comment was to say there's no danger/need to carry a gun while jogging. The Chris Lane situation validates that is was a silly comment.

I mean...I don't carry, so I could be mugged or assaulted at any point, whether I'm running or not.

I don't know. Maybe I have too much faith in humanity or my instincts.

I see what you mean. I used to think I could muscle my way out of most situations. As we age, our thoughts of such change.

Wife just told me a little earlier that a lady was jogging in the park in the town that I grew up in NE MS and was attacked and raped this past week.

This situation is really no different than any other carry situation. There's never any way to know for sure whether carrying would or would not have saved someone's life in specific instances, but for the love of frick, wouldn't you prefer to at least have the chance if you were in the situation?
