For spring/summer plots, do yall usually do the same routine of cutting/spraying/tilling/planting? Or just cut low, till and seed?

I cut low, let it flush back green, then spray with a stiff rate of glyphosate mixed with dicamba and 2-4d. Then scatter joint vetch seed right before a rain. I do not disk or cover.

I put triple 13 down 2 weeks ago when we planted. Didn’t know if it was too soon to put more down.

What did you plant and what was the application rate of the 13-13-13?

What would be the best fertilizer to put down before this rain? Straight Urea?

I love Urea once temps settle down or just before a rain when volitization (sp?) isn't a concern.

Planted a 6 way seed we got from co op. Put 13-13-13 down at whatever rate was called for? I think we put 200 lbs on a 2 acre plot.

That translates to 13# N/acre which is a fairly light dose - a follow up dose of supplemental nitrogen would help fire things up!

we did Urea and triple 13 going down today. Changed planting to just rye grass, clover, wheat, and buck oats.

We had to start late because of the drought and I was waiting on some dozer work.

On top of all of that, we cant use the drill because the soil is too wet (SWMS) and so we had to broadcast everything behind the dozer.

It is what it is....hopefully will have some food growing in the plots and roads for January.

Once again. For the hundredth time since March. Big rain forecasted for today since last week and it’s one band.

I trust the forecast for woodville as much as I trust a wet fart.

We went from 2” to 1” to we might get drizzled on 0.25” today.

The rain bands moves north when it hits the MS river and speeds up. Right through us.

There just isn’t enough moisture in the ground for anything to grow aside from rye grass.

Next rain? Next weekend….not holding my breath.

I'm going to have that stitched on caps and sell them - available only at Flick's at the 4-way stop.

This has been a fun thread to look back on.

I ended up getting great growth in my food plots. The only grow inhibitor I’ve had is just unreal grazing pressure. With the lack of natural growth, my plots have been hammered. But that has also resulted in it being a very successful season so far.

It has definitely been fun to follow this thread. Hell I’ve never started a thread that went more than a page or two. We’re at 15 lol
