None that I recall and we shook a lot of trees. Once a banded water snake fell into the boat, when we passed under a bush. But, it wasn’t a willow tree.

To add to this. I always wanted to get into fly fishing. Anyone have a recommendation on a good tackle setup for a rookie

I used to tear them up with those foam spiders. However, I did find that the bream seem to get educated to them pretty quickly.

For bream?

Eagle Claw Featherlight or Cabelas CGR 0-3 wt
Whatever cheap reel you can find
Line to go with it.

I started bass fishing again a couple of years ago when I bought a fishing kayak. I go 2-3 times a month now. Went yesterday and caught 4 decent fish, the largest was 3.5 pounds.

Man, I used to love fly fishing for bream and goggle eye growing up. This thread convinced me I need to get back in to it.

I happened to have a $100 gift card through work so I just ordered up this combo from Amazon:

Wild Water Fly Fishing 9 Foot, 4-Piece, 3/4 Weight Fly Rod Deluxe Complete Fly Fishing Rod and Reel Combo Starter Package

Catching bass is fun, but non stop swirls on the surface as bream fight for that popper is a blast too.

Just as an FYI the reel will show which weight rods it's supposed to go on. The same with the line. If it's a 3 wt rod then get 3 or 4wt line. I like Scientific Anglers for line. Bass Pro,Cabelas store brand, or TFO are fine too for bream fishing.

If you come accross a TFO 0-3 wt rod for cheap it'd be a good buy too.

I always buy my fly rod and fly reels used on ebay, facebook, or fishing message boards with buy/sell areas. Fly Fishing rods are easy to ship.

Lsupride87 has the set up everyone should use. I catch doubles on the regular when the bite is on. And some days they want the top and some days submerged. So you get best of both

Also, I use 12 lb test as my leader. Have never had an issue with not catching fish. But it allows me to accidentally cast in a tree and rip it out.

I always have a blast bream fishing. I also target sac-a-lait sometimes. Caught these 2 within 30 minutes of each other. The larger one was 2.9 lbs.

Do it! I honestly have more fun fly fishing than any other kind.
Whatever it is that makes me addicted to fishing - not "it's relaxing" or "it's peaceful", but that feeling of "just one more cast because you never know" - I get it more with fly fishing.
The excited anticipation maybe.
Hell, I dont know how to describe the feeling. I just know that there is more of it with fly fishing.
