Like all BRP products. It will either be bullet proof and last forever, or a complete piece of shite from day one.

I've had them since they were Tiger way back. But a renegade that grenaded for no reason in 2012 was the last straw for me.

I will never buy anything made by Bombardier after owning a Sea Doo

This is correct.

OP, you’ve been fore warned buying 1 is like Russian Roulette.

If you haven’t looked around at any other manufacturers, you should.

Bought an HD8 XT before last Hunting season and put 700 miles on it.
Its been a BMF so for getting through the muddy areas of our lease and hauling firewood, seed, fertilizer and the like. I am not to rough on the thing by any means though.

Fingers crossed that no issues come up any time soon.

The thing I have noticed with most of the complaints on the Defender Facebook pages seem to be on machines that have aftermarket lifts and obnoxiously large tires.

Pic for attention

I don't discount that could be the case but it hasn't been my experience as of yet.

I might add that we have and couple Polaris, couple Kawasaki, a Honda and even a Bennche running around our lease. The only problem with any of them in the last five years was one Polaris broke an axle do to the operator trying to drive out of loose gravel after getting stuck and the Bennche can't haul more than 200lbs without squatting onto the tires.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a UTV, then this COVID 19 crap hit. My wife's job is taking a hit, so back in limbo for me.

Originally a Chinese copy of a rhino made in Texas. They had a great quality control at first. As their sales numbers increased their quality went to shite.

The later sxs they made rarely were sold, they couldn't keep an running long enough to sell them

I have a Defender HD8. Love everything about it so far. It’s 2 years old and zero problems. It’s all factory though. No lift kit or anything.

Go mud riding with a big bunch. The Polaris' haven't been holding up well at all. I have a John deere gator 825i, love it, but the belt slips in very little water. Also on my deer property i have lots of water

Can you not seal the housing? I know my old man had to do this on his old mule (2001).

I bought this exact machine last September. Road around my neighborhood for a few weeks bf taking it to the camp during real season. Locked front and rear diff and was spinning through some 10-12” deep hard bottom stuff in high gear and popped the belt. I was pissed as it was the first time I had it out. Did some reading and the literature says to make sure it’s in low gear when front/rear diff locks engaged. Got a new belt and used it with good results till first of December. F’ing rats got into our container and chewed the wiring harness which shut me down again for a little while. I like the machine a lot so far...just very disappointed I didn’t get to put it through a whole duck season. Really needed it the last 2-3 weeks when we had tons of water/mud, but not having it was more due to damn rats.
