Anyone ever fish the marsh where Bayou Lacombe goes into Lake P? Any advice or tips? Trying to find a place closer to the house to do some salt water fishing

When I was a kid (50 years ago), my Dad used to take us there to fish sometimes. There was a gravel road with some pigs running around all the time.

Don't remember what we caught there though. Probably croakers. Hope this helps.

If you have a kayak you can fish the edge of the lake. Plenty of seagrass along the beaches of Big Branch.

My family has a house on the Bayou and I've never really caught shite out there. Bass can be caught in the bayou and I know some people luck across some reds/trout from time to time in the mouth but I'd rather drive 20 minutes further to the rigolets if i was trying to stay close.

a few years back, when I lived on the northshore, we would wade-fish the grass flats west of the bayou in the springtime for specks. Would make for a fun morning/afternoon. Good days were 5-10 solid trout.

My uncle has a house right there by the lake. The 3rd story window looks out directly at the city that looks beautiful on clear days.

I've taken the boat out from there and hit the specks under the bridge but mostly I only go out there and frick off on jet skis, never fished the Bayou or marsh.

Sorry that's all I got.

I don't consider catching a single trout or a couple bass a good trip. Which is why I said i never catch shite out there

I've fished that area five or so times and never really caught anything.

My son and I fish there every now and then. If you don't know fishing the northshore very well, you won't catch much. We don't catch much.

I've caught a few trout in one of the bends in bayou lacombe before the launch. Grass flats drop to deep holes and trout sit in there. I had artificial, might try some live shrimp> there are cuts in goose point to the west of the mouth of the bayou that has some real nice, clean water cuts (skinny and shallow) that I hear people catch reds out of. My boat is too big to get in there so this is not first hand.

I know years back for work we shocked up some very nice red-eared sunfish all the banks not terribly far from the lake.

I don't like northshore fishing. It's a lot harder than just about everywhere else in the state but some people do very well and that just makes it even more frustrating.

Yeah, the learning curve there seems really steep.

As stated bass fishing in the bayou is fair and fish can be caught around the mouth of the lake.

Around the mouth of the lake I had some decent luck drifting with small tube jigs tipped with shrimp. No big fish but you can pick up a mixed catch of croakers, channel cats, specks, small reds, and other fish.

I'll weigh in. The fall bite can be good. I've caught and I know people that have caught 3+ lb trout at the mouth. You can catch nice trout and reds as well at goose point on topwater fishing the grass flats. There's also the old shell reef where a platform used to be a couple miles out and to the right. Hit it right and it's easy limits. I'm sure spring can be good as well
