To clean what type of fish? I use 3 different blades for different fish. All of them are Dexters though.

Redfish, specks, snapper mainly.

I have the old wooden handle kind like 007mag showed and a couple commercial knives from Alario's that work great too. Both are easy to sharpen.

Got my Bubba Blades in yesterday... haven't cleaned a fish yet, but they look pretty and they're sharp as frick! Grip on them is awesome, and comfortable. I'll no more in a couple weeks once I get out on the water again!

When you include cost, Dexter is a no-brainer.

I honestly didnt realize Dexter was a serious answer. I thought it was a joke refering to the TV show

But after googleing...... I may have to order a few just to try them out.

I just don't think there's anything that can beat an old Dexter white handle filet knife. I've got two that are easily 20 years old. They really just need tune up sharpening every use or so and that's it.

My family used to have a commercial fish processing facility for around 20 years and we used dexters and forschner knives.

For most fish cleaning we used boning knives. A little sturdier than most fillet knives and held up better than a traditional fillet knife. Actually we never had any traditional fillet knives(long skinny flexible blade) at all.

For skinning the fillets we used something similar to this one:

Same here, but I hardly fish inshore. If I have a mess of specks, I'm breaking out the electric knife.

I'd like to give some specks a shot with the bubba blade. I'm curious, is it supposed to rip through a big red too or is there a serrated version?
