Federal, Remington, and CCI ammunition companies sold to Czech Republic company

We are losing our USA-owned businesses..........
These were the ammunition-based divisions of these 3 iconic companies. They are based in Minnesota, Arkansas, and Idaho.
I hate it, but nothing I can do.

I’d imagine there is about to be yuge tariffs on ammo from those companies.

Is there any indication that they are planning to close those facilities and move production offshore?
They may be ready to invest money in those facilities and ramp up production...
Foreign ownership isn't necessarily a bad thing. The US is the biggest consumer of ammunition in the world. And ammunition is heavy and expensive to ship.

Wouldn’t they still be made in the IS regardless of ownership? They wouldn’t have to worry about tariffs if that’s the case.

My bad. I went and read the article from
June of last year. It doesn’t mention anything about them closing facilities here. I didn’t realize that Remington had been broken up into so many pieces over the last few years .

"Supposedly" nothing will change.....we will see if they keep the manufacturing going....I believe they will for now.
Regardless of where they are made, I prefer my ammo supplier to be a USA company. World conflicts can change the supply chain strategy overnight.

They will keep the production here so they won't have to worry about import restrictions if Dems are in power.

Too bad for everyone else, I still have my 3 C-Cans buried on my property full of munitions with a 20 year supply of MRE's. I've been preparing for this moment all my life...

This happened over a year ago. In that time they’ve actually put ammo back on the shelves. I’d love for everything to be American owned, but owners of companies nowadays don’t necessarily have to have input in the business aside from managing the balance sheet. Americans in this particular business “optimized” us to the point of shortages.

Correct. It’s CZ buying them. They made the best offer and won.

I’m good on components for a long time. I’ll cross the primer bridge when I come to it.

Big fan of CZ firearms. Not sure how I feel about three big ammo manufactures being owned by a different country though.

What really matters is primer manufacturing, and where it’s located.
Federal/CCI/Rem have been the same thing since Remington went bankrupt (Vista Outdoors), and are about half the primers in the US. Winchester (Olin) is the other half.
Primer manufacturing has a lot of startup costs and is much more complicated than loading ammo, which is why no one even tried building new primer manufacturing during the COVID shortages. The reason CZ bought is because the plants are so valuable as is and importing things like this are a pain in the arse. I guess never say never as far as them getting political, but the product will continue to be made here and every indication is their interest is financial.

Saw this a while ago. Foriegn ownership does have its benefits. They are still in production. They aren’t going to stop.
One benefit is that it makes it harder for these gun control nuts to sue the companies, like they did with Remington and put them out of business. Need to turn the tables and put these nutjobs out of business.

CZ has been trying to expand their US based manufacturing for a while. They had a deal in place to build a plant at the port in Little Rock that fell through due to covid issues. LINK
Czechia is one of the most conservative countries in Europe and have realized they need to increase their US sales if they want to survive

Is it CZ or S&B buying the ammo companies? Curious, because CZ has been guns and S&B has been ammo. I do seem to remember Magtech (Brazil) buying S&B, but didn't change anything on the production level.
CZ would be a good steward, they bought Colt a couple years ago. It would make sense to buy up some US ammo companies, keep production over here. That actually avoids tariffs.

Bottom line people.....I DO NOT want American ammo manufacturers selling their business to ANY foreign nations, period!
World politics can change overnight.....this is a bad idea and I am disappointed in the transaction.

Ammo isn’t that hard to make if the components are there. Several of the raw materials needed for both gunpowder and primers come exclusively from China, and have since the dawn of time. If you want to be concerned about foreign interests controlling the ammo supply, that’s the thing to freak out about.
