I had no idea this place was still open. I have an old Shimano Bantam Mag I need to have serviced. Haven’t been on Weller Avenue in quite a while.

I took a reel there 10-15 years ago, they did a good job. Surprised its still kicking in that spot.

I have a box full of old reels that need some love.

Figure it's either a mutual respect thing where the hoodrats don't want to bother the old white guys' business from the 70s in the neighborhood, or the Favaro brothers have given the local population a few reasons not to try hoodrat stuff against them. I'm thinking it's the latter tbh

Chicken Shack, a block away, keeps them distracted.
BTW, he also sells old books, movies, barbies, old figurines, metal lunch boxes etc.
It began in 1931 as a corner Italian Grocery Store with a small area for rod and reel repair. As the neighborhood changed, the store become less grocery and more rod and reel repair.

Wow. It's been a long time ago, but we used to bring all our Abu Garcia 5500s and 6500s there to get the dog leg brakes repaired and the reels cleaned. I need to run back by there.

What is the cost of servicing reels?

Do you know the man in the last photo?

I brought some 5500s like 8 years back and it was $12 for a service and an eye repair was $5 on a rod lol

I have a dozen older reels that I wouldn’t want to use anymore. So big clunky heavy and not close to performing like a new &100-150 reels. Paying $30-40 to clean and grease make no sense to me . If u need bearings it’s dbl that.

have a few smaller spinning reels that need to be cleaned and serviced. would yall recommend Favaros? or elsewhere in the BR area ?

If they're older models Favaro's will be fine if they don't need repairs.
Personally I have newer model stuff and bring mine to Superior Tackle off Siegen

Brings back some great memories.
My dad used to work there part time fixing reels and stuff.
I was a kid running around that place. Many weekends the family would have meals in the back of the place and include us.
Damn I haven’t thought about this in at least 25 years.
