Thats pretty low, do you know the cause? I believe overall capacity is around 11-12 qts

You checked the filter? Is there a magnet on the pan?

Should have a magnetic drain plug, it may not tell the whole tale but it may give you a hint if there any kind of hard part damage.

If not most will have a magnet in the pan.

Actually I just looked I think you have to drop the pan to check the magnet. You may want to do that and change the filter and see if that fixes your problems. If not then prayers sent.

I have two buddies whose F150s both leaked tranny fluid. Can't remember what the fix was though. Also, they typically shift very slowly when they start acting up. Weird symptoms

Yeah that was it. I know they tried replacing the gasket first, but it didn't work for both of them

Had to put a new transmission in my 05 F150 28K in and 2 months out of warranty. It was shifting very slow when it went out.

Still has some trouble shifting out of 3rd now, but it gets the job done. Never had any fluid problems.

I was under the impression it doesn't have a dipstick. I have the same truck. How did you know it was low unless I'm wrong.

Correct ! It does not have a dip stick. When it started having problems the first thing i checked was the fluid level and it was real low. Then i looked at the rear seal and it had fluid dripping. You have to get under the truck to check the fluid level while its idling in park. It has a 4 inch dip stick inside the trans mission fill hole.

is it a 6 speed? i heard alot of the first production 6 speeds are trouble and the leak is a very common problem with that year
