I passed on a decent 8 point this year because I didn't want to piss of the land owner and wanted to get an invite back. If I was on my land I would have taken him. So instead I took a couple of pictures and we talked about it back at camp. I was the only one that took a deer off that property this year. Bow hunting 2nd weekend took a doe for meat.

This reminds me of the reason I quit the only hunting club I was and and will EVER be in......
Our club was no place to take kids hunting with the few drunk assholes we had there. I like my beer but.... C'mon , Man!!

There is more drama at hunting camps/leases than a woman who loves watching shows like The Bachelor can ever dream of
No truer words have been posted here. Way too much drama over petty crap that snowballs constantly. Having to look for a new piece of land to lease myself because of a lease with poor leadership and loads of drama.

Reminds me of a weekend I spent with a college girlfriend with her parents at their camp in the off season. She told me to bring my pistol because her dad would have his, and we could do some shooting.
Her dad and I spent the whole weekend running a chainsaw, and using a tractor like a skidder, clearing some of the property near their trailer, and burning piles from where someone had done the same the weekend before. In the hour that the women spent cooking dinner the first night, I had the honor of using a broomstick to clear out the gutters on the trailer. I also did some painting while Saturday's dinner was being cooked.
My own dad didn't get that much work out of me in a weekend. This guy wasn't just the girlfriend's dad, he was also the dean of the school of business where I was going to school. Sunday morning we did do some shooting, just before we left to come home. Driving too, and from, the camp was the most time I spent with the girlfriend the whole trip.

So we just stand back and watch him try to set it for a solid 10 minutes. It was comical to say the least. At one point he trapped himself in the pin. Then gets mad because we are not helping him.

This is why good clubs are a bitch to find and when you find one you stay in it.

Work weekend. It isn't the worst thing in the world. It's certainly a small price to be for being with his daughter. He was probably taking inventory on what type of person you were. Plus, free strong back for the weekend. I see no problem with this.

Even more reason to make a good impression. I really don't see an issue here.

You got some down time too. I would think there would be plenty of guys lined up to rub shoulders with the dean and sleep with his daughter, then go shoot guns.
All in all, it sounds like a solid weekend.

After the game we head back to the camp and I’m like shite, I can’t just leave so I hang out, get tipsy and just hang out, and go to bed at like 3:30. I’m thinking we’re just saying frick it and not hunting the next morning... Nope, they wake me up at 5 and we go hunting... Still drunk. I tell them just drop me off at the first stand. I get in, don’t even load my gun, and sleep until they come get me around 9. My buddy and I had sobered up but his dad had never stopped from the night before.
That's fricking insane.

Does the dad's last name happen to be Miyagi?

I believe that is exactly what he was doing.
Sounds like a good weekend to me.
