We booked some land for a hog hunt this past weekend. It's usually my buddy and I but we decided to bring two more guys thinking they would all get along and have a good weekend. That didn't happen. One of the guys left Saturday and the other one we invited got so damn butt hurt he wanted to leave camp early too.

It makes sense now why so many people have their groups and don't like to bring in new people.

How many of you have ever had an experience like that?

I have bad experiences with people everywhere, including at camp.

So they left you alone? Sounds like a good experience.

There is more drama at hunting camps/leases than a woman who loves watching shows like The Bachelor can ever dream of

Completely agree with this. A camp with 10-15 or more members plays out like that movie "mean girls". The cliques and the backstabbing. Would never think you were dealing with grown men.

I wish that both of them would have left but the one that got butt hurt stayed.

Keeping the circle small. I look at it like it's a lesson learned.

Should've helped the pussy pack. There's pretty much nothing that can piss me off at the camp, but I don't abide no whining.

You can only influence a pissy grown man so much. At some point you just have to ignore him and his attitude and go about your business. Same rules apply for women and children. I spent many years thinking I was responsible for making people happy. Once I quit worrying about assholes with attitudes, my life got a lot easier.

Well what happened? I can’t imagine getting that upset on a weekend where I’m trying to enjoy myself unless someone was being unsafe or blatantly disrespecting my property.

My dad was camp/lease pres for yrs bc no one else would do it. He dealt with more pissy childish shite.

30 yrs later... my lease agreement is a ten page legal document written by a lawyer in the camp. It seems nit picky on surface, but I know why it's written that way. It sux when you have to enumerate mutual respect, courtesy, responsibility, and safety in a contract

The one lease/camp I was involved in had exactly zero cross words, bad feelings, etc. May have been to the shitty no alcohol rule, but I think it was more the group of people. The other thing was, no sense of ownership of "spots". We had a large map with nails in it. You put your penny on the nail where you're going to hunt.

So the guy #1 - Going through some baby mamma drama. He brought his 11 y.o. son with him (trip was suppose to be mostly for his son). #1 stayed in the cabin all weekend on his phone. Didn't sit by the fire or socialize at all all weekend. While his son was having the time of his life. We all felt bad for his son when he decided to leave early.

Guy #2 was trying to fit in too much and started acting like a teenage girl. I was the one that invited #2. First thing that pissed me off is he didn't bring enough money to cover his share of the trip. I had to cover him. 175 a day (wasn't expensive at all). Second he was just obnoxious. Either he was making a gay joke or he was trying to insult someone. Before our hunt Sat evening I pulled him aside and said to tone the jokes, insults, and cutting people off where their talking (happened several times). So we go on our hunt. He brews over it and texts me back and forth a couple of times. That's when the butthurt ensued. I told him he not only embarrassed me, he pissed off guy #1, and he was getting on everyone's nerves. He got out of his stand and was back at the camp by 6:30. He asked guy #1 if he could ride back to the house with him Sat night. Only reason he didn't leave was because guy #1 didn't want to be around him.

I get it, shite like that can ruin the vibe of a great weekend. I bet #2 never gets invited anywhere anyway?

HA!!!!!

It sucks when men act like that but glad to know it's not my acquaintances also.

But like I've had to say before: he's not a grown arse man, he's just old enough to buy beer.

I don't spend a fraction of the time at camps I used to.

That was a brief explanation of it. Some other things happened too. Sat morning we get up go to the stands we picked out, I see this fool walking the edge of the field towards me around 7:45. He gets about 100 yards from me and finally see me. So basically my hunt is shot. I get down and ask him WTF is he walking around for? His response " I was bored".

We get back to the cabin after the morning hunt and he pulls out 3 different pistols, which I assume he was thinking we were going to a range. He wanted to set up cans and just shoot. All the while he started drinking at 10:30, so I tell him, for one you need to go to town to pay me back and two we're not here to shoot cans with a .45, while you are drinking. At this point I'm fed up with him.

Mid day we go check the hog trap and find 4 pigs in it. So we let the boy shoot them. So he started pouting because he didn't get to shoot the first one. We load the pigs up and reset the trap. All of a sudden he become the expert and tries to tell us how to set it and it needs to be moved. Cutting people off mid sentence. So we just stand back and watch him try to set it for a solid 10 minutes. It was comical to say the least. At one point he trapped himself in the pin. Then gets mad because we are not helping him.

We get back to the cabin and start showing the boy how to skin the hogs and he is in the background the whole time he became the expert again.

That afternoon is when I pulled him to the side and told him he needed to tone it down, at first he was dumbfounded, then he got mad and I had to put him in his place. I'm one to bite my tongue for a while but after everything I had enough.

I've never seen a grown man get upset the way he did by getting called out on his BS.
