Beautiful creatures.

I didn't even know there were elk in Arkansas.

Are these some that have worked their way over from the Tennessee reintroduction?

According to google, they were introduced starting back in 1981. They are the Rocky Mountain variety. They’ve done so well in repopulating that hunting them is allowed, but only a small amount of permits are giving each year. I’m 36 and I swear I remember they introduced some in the late 90s. So who knows the exact time frame.

If you're ever in Knoxville during the fall visit Hatfield Knob Elk Viewing Tower

It's not uncommon to see 40-50 at once with many large bulls.

One of the more beautiful creatures in the world.

God truly blessed this nation with its landscape and animal types.

Was on a canoe trip in Ponca and saw some for the first time. My wife and I sat there in awe at how massive and beautiful they are in person, Would love a chance to bow hunt for one.

I checked the cam one day last week and there were about 20 cows and calves laying around.

y'all reckon they will ever be reintroduced in to Louisiana? I'd love to see elk and wolves make a bigger comeback. I think elk are still only on 10 or 20 percent of their historic range.

It really is.

Especially during the fall when the leaves change colors.

I don't know if we have enough contiguous habitat to support an elk herd anymore in Louisiana

plus it would be a disaster as many whooping cranes and black bears get shot

imagine something that actually tastes good like an elk
wouldn't last a week

true that. this state is a mess. between littering and folks road hunting 40 deer a year I'm surprised it's still considered a sportsman's paradise.

Unfortunately, these elk brought CWD to Arkansas and they’ve had a major outbreak.
Nothing like hunting elk when they’re bugling.
