Man, I’m glad to hear you’re having good success.

I guide in southern Illinois and I’ve watched hunters bring their e bikes for past several years. They all seem to do okay until the rain and snow hit.

Once the temps bottom out I see more of the guys with the cheaper models complaining about battery life.

I also have seen the ones with smaller diameter tires become useless after a heavy rain when the fields turn to mud.

I have one but I'd love for them to be banned on public unless used on an ATV trail. It's getting aggravating where I hunt. The whole place is mixed woods and ag fields, not many people follow the rules with them. If there's anything that looks like a trail they'll ride on it and where there aren't trails they just cut through the fields.

Isn't this the rule for WMAs in Louisiana? I know it is at Russell Sage, but I still see people breaking that rule. I like my money too much to risk getting a citation.

I can't lie though, I like the NWR rules by me better. The major difference is you can use an ATV or e-bike off trails on WMAs to retrieve your deer. You can't do that on the NWRs by me.

Yeah it is in Louisiana, I'm talking about where I hunt in Missouri. Their conservation areas have pretty lax rules on them. There are no ATVs allowed for the most part but you can ride an ebike on all of the hiking/horse/bicycle trails. It wouldn't be bad if there weren't so many of them but there are hiking trails everywhere on the few that I hunt.

I fully agree.

It’s also very annoying hiking all the way in the back and you see some fat dude walking around.

If I had to bust arse to get back there so should you.

This is the whole reason I got one. I wasnt going to let other hunters have that advantage. I dont use it to actually hunt as much as I thought I would. It is awesome for scouting, though. I can park my truck and cover the whole wma on it. I'll ride the trails and see what everything is planted with and what woods mdc has thinned. Then I'll get more specific and start walking spots.

That’s what I mainly used it for at first. I mapped out all the trails at the nearby WMAs and NWRs. Now I use it to get pretty deep in, but I still hike a couple miles depending on my spot. Gotta get to where the deer are and where I don’t see people. Yes, deer are also close but I just don’t want to be around others out there.

Just know that riding on a wet trail with multiple ruts can become an Olympic sport. Mud can also cake up the chain and cause it to slip off.
Riding when it's dry is a dream. I've ridden past deer that weren't alarmed until I stopped.

I like the ability to quietly move around the area. Motors are loud and heavy.

Just the back rack that came with it. I just got a MIK adapter plate so I can stick an oversized milk crate on there when I need it.

So have we come to a consensus on the best Ebike for public land?

Updated - Ordered the Rambo Roamer with the 20Ah battery.
