Did they just recently start buying them? Duck hunter numbers are down by every measure.

Yeah, we have fewer duck hunters than ever.
Seems odd because anytime a duck lease in S La. becomes available, its gone in less than a day and there are 5 guys who are left pissed cause they didn't get it. Even shitty leases (of which most are these days).

People are richer than ever before. But they still dont duck hunt as much. Hunting numbers are suffering across the board. In 1980 we had 17 million hunters, 2020 we had 15 million.

Put that in perspective, in the 50s we had 175 million Americans and about 15 million hunters. In 2020, we have 330 million Americans and about the same number. Rural America is on life support and hunting numbers will wane with it.

I dont chase after geese but this whole nother topic that makes no sense any way you look at it.

You can't shoot snows now, but you can shoot em next month until you're red in the face. By that time the few that are here now will be back in Arkansas/Missouri/Oklahoma/Kansas

I'm not disputing that numbers might be down. I haven't paid attention to that, I was just saying that I know people that have collected them for years and don't hunt. As well as old timers who have hunted for years and always bought two to keep the extra.

Just saying that it's not the best metric to look at. Good starting place though as there aren't many other metrics to use to really get a good accurate figure of how many hunters there are. Seems like there are more hunters than ever in LA.

New DU video about project on the east side of the river.

Youtube just recommended this from Bay Denesse, I guess it got posted a few hours ago. What are people's thought on these projects? I think its good for sure, but is it just an endless battle of pouring money into it to lose the land again every few years?

PRESSURE

The boys in Arkansas are a lot like Louisiana. If there’s open water, they’re going to shoot them.

Boat racing down bayou meto. Launching from the side of the road at the cache. They were shooting them in every low water slough in hurricane before it jumped up.

We probably should chase them, seems like the only thing that migrates down here in numbers.

I dont know what public areas you guys duck hunt in. But hunting is not only just about the worst i have seen in certain areas. But the number of people was absurd tearing/scratching up there big fancy rigs when the river came up end of season for no ducks was quite comical...lol

That is a misleading stat to begin with because I know of a few old men who don't hunt anymore, or people who don't duck hunt anyway, but collect the stamps. I've seen a lot of drawn pictures with the bird and the stamp with the same bird on it in the frame underneath. Idk if they still do that much.

But I know people collect them/buy two/ etc.
. That still puts far less La duck hunters and it’s declining

I never said it wasn't pointing to a decrease. Just pointing out that many people who buy a stamp don't even hunt, which make the numbers lower and harder to gauge what they really are.
