Just was told about an opening at Angelina Farms. 6 man Pit Blind for $1,250/pp.

No one seemed to have a stellar season in that area of the state last year. Plus with the oil field layoffs and whatnot you would figure prices would be falling.

Every year they keep going up though.

1250 a gun is pretty cheap IMO

So it's a $7500 blind, or 3 people pay $1250 each and get 3 guest spots?

Big difference.

that's not a bad price. my cousin had a blind there last 3 years and well some good hunts were made but more bad than good.

that being said they both hunt public land now and kill more. last season at that lease was terrible. for 1250$ though its not bad.

2 years ago it was $1000... What has changed, besides the dwindling duck numbers?

6 man Blind for $7,500... Or $1250 a person

WHODAT... I've hunted there about 15 times in my life and had 2 good hunts. Both of those hunts were 5+ years ago.

I would think it was a better deal if I had a place to park my camper. The 3 Hr drive back and forth would get old real quick.

If you like throwing money away be my guest.

Good blinds don't just come up for lease out of the blue, they are passed around in very tight circles. The ones you hear about are the ones that some guy paid 7,500 for last year, didn't kill shite and bailed.

I have hunted there 5 times and I won't be back unless something drastically changes.

Not a bad price and it will be a place to go. But I doubt seriously you get anything more than a couple decent shoots on the opening weekends...

I hear ya 34... And I agree. Knowing what I know about the place I would be more likely to take a flyer on a potentially non productive lease of the price was lower.

But I guess there is always people willing to pay more that's why it keeps going up.

See this is what I'm talking about.... (Not Picking on you Balls just using you as an example)

Saying it's not a bad price but then turning around and saying it will only be good the opening weekends.

Is $1,250 worth four good hunts? To me it's not. I tend to make between 30-45 hunts a season. That's a lot of time to be sitting in a blind not shooting shite for $1250

This.

I heard their farm around Gilbert had a good population of ducks late last season.

I'm just saying it's not a bad price to pay for a seat in a blind. And I've never hunted there so I can't say for certain how it's going to be. But I've hunted in a lot of places and a lot of pit blinds. If a place is even remotely worth a shite you probably won't hear about it having an opening, much less get a spot in it at a bargain price. That just doesn't happen. But there is something to say about having a place to go. And if you're in a blind, with water, in decent area you always have at least a chance of some ducks falling in it at any given time. For some that alone may be worth $1,250.

TLDR version- You aint gonna kill shite.

Exactly. There is a reason that blind is available. Unless the guys who had it last year are hard up financially, they are likely giving it up because it didn't produce.

The farm manager told me this. He must have thought I was in the market for a blind then.

I know some people who hunt around the Sicily Island, Wisner, Gilbert area and last season was tough on them.
