Looking into Job prospects around Kalispell, Whitefish, Missoula, and or Butte area.

I know it's a long shot, but with all the Out west threads recently figured I'd ask anyways. Any info is good info.

I know there are a lot of ducks in central and east Montana, we are heading that way next week for upland hunting and some duck hunting thrown in, I don't know if they are on the west side of the state or not.

I've done it once and probably will not again. I hunted a place called swan lake. Over the course of 3 days, we shot one Canada and one mallard. Apparently the way to hunt (I did not do) is out of a drift boat down the river and sneak up on floats of birds.

Do you have job offers or you are looking for a job first? I'm trying to figure out your plan here? I don't think I'd try to move to Montana for the duck hunting is my point. It may be good, but if you are going to move somewhere for the ducks then Montana wouldn't be my top choice.

When I've been in Jackson Hole the guys I've talked to have gone to Idaho to hunt ducks and geese I believe. If you were in Montana though, a drive to Canada to get in early season would be very doable every year.

Oregon, Washington, and Salt Lake are fairly close to Western MT, and they have some world class duck hunting in the Pacific flyway in those areas.

Hunting is just added fun. Moving to Montana for other reasons, but was just curious about duck hunting in that part of the state.

Been to Eastern Idaho and witnessed how many ducks and geese are out there, yet few ppl actually hunting them. Opportunity right now is in Western Montana which sparked my curiosity about hunting there if I do move there following this opportunity.

We hunt ducks out here. But, as with any duck hunting, you’ve got to pay your dues. The locals don’t talk about where they hunt. Some of the best green head hunting I’ve ever had has been in Montana. For me the best hunting is on a bitter, snowy day on a spring creek. Finding someone who will allow you to hunt on his spring creek is another story. I’ve heard there are some birds in the Bitterroot valley, but I’ve not hunted over there. You might check out the Lee Metcalf NWR website.
