Does he kill enough ducks to use the strap. How does he hunt. If out a blind maybe a cushioned bucket with a back. Maybe put some calls or a good knife inside?

A blind bag and maybe a few boxes of shells. Or you can get him a nice pair of gloves or a black or camp facemask to use. The gloves and facemasks sure do come in handy when it comes to cold weather and just hunting period

I second the leather strap. Have given a few of these as gifts and all loved them.

Found a leather strap on Etsy. Can have it monogrammed with his last name. Hopefully can get it by Christmas.

Thanks baws.

Any of the high end waterproof high performance clothing is always a great gift. The crap you can’t justify buying for yourself like $80/pair of gloves but are freaking bad arse is always a great gift.

+1 on these last tao replies above. High performance stuff is seldom affordable for many, so makes for great gift. Good headlamp is must-have for duck hunters, I use Streamlight. Also good cordless spotlight, ideally waterproof.

Banded makes an awesome water proof backpack for around 75-80 bucks. It’s been one of the best things I’ve bought over the past couple years.

Wish I had one of those.

That'd be a helluva gift.

Buy him some ammo. Can't have fun with the thang if it don't go bang!

If the guy is avid than you are probably going to buy him something he already owns unless you come out and ask him what he needs. Also if he is avid and is beating them up, it’s hard to not need shells. Just get the right ones he shoots.

The best bet though is to get a gift certificate to Mack’s or Simmon’s.

Final Approach backpack style blind bag. By far the best thing I've bought gear wise for duck hunting.

Sitka
neck gator, watch cap, or gloves.
You can probably only get one for your price range.

I have been duck hunting a long time, and usually hunt + 30 days and have owned almost every brand of gear available to include lots of Filson.

Nothing compares to Sitka if you can afford it buy it.
