Down sleeping bag recs

Looking to buy a down (not synthetic) sleeping bag. I think temp rating below 30*. Will be camping in Montana in November. Last year it snowed while my friends were there.

I have a 30 degree REI mummy down bag. Like it. Got it on sale for like $100.
If you’re using it in 30 degree weather I’d get a 15 degree bag

Yeah your ground pad is going to be probably the second most important aspect as well. High r rating.
Not sure how much you plan to use. But the cottage brands sell quick on the used market and for good money. Otherwise any of the big name brands will suffice. I’d get at least a 0 rated one for Montana in November. At minimum

Pro tip, buy an Egyptian cotton 1000+ thread count sheet and put it inside your bag.
I've camped down to -11 and was quite comfy.

Get a zero bag. November in Montana can be survival. Also, sleep on a cot for comfort.

If u will use it once or twice, buy a US Army surplus down bag, served me well at 10F in the snow

I have a 30F mummy bag, and we sleep out in the woods every year around christmas time in south louisiana. The few nights it's been in the 30's, i get chilly from time to time. I'm going camping in colorado in September and i'm nervous my 30F bag won't be enough.

You’ll be fine. I’ve used a 30 in June at 9,000 feet in the snow and was “okay”

we'll be around 9000 feet as well. June is a little different from September, but i'm sure i'll be alright too. If i didn't have so much other crap to buy for this trip, i probably would have gotten a 20F or 0F bag.

Look on Massdrop in next couple hours. Currently they have a Klymit Ultralight Insulated sleeping pad starting at 60 bucks. 4.4 R value. Great pad. Also have an Enlightened Equipment 20 degree quilt available for 220 (more if you want big sizes). I don't think I'll ever go back to bag sleeping after using a quilt system.
