Is anyone else as enamored with this video as I am?

I’ve probably watched it 100 times. If anyone knows how to link and insta video please do.

Its a cool video.

That boat has 300s. I assume that’s the sweet spot for efficiency and performance vs the 400s/425s on similar sized boats. 15gph average is really good even assuming a lot of idle.

It’s pretty awesome.

What’s more impressive is that a full time general surgeon has for years outfished professional captains on multi-million dollar boats.

He’s beat them on center consoles to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I’d love to hear him on a podcast like Meateater discuss his career as a tournament fisherman.

Gotcha. What do they do with them after weighing them? People don't eat marlin do they?

I’ve heard the meat is given to food bank charities. They say it’s good smoked, but I’ve never had it.

I had marlin (striped if I remember correctly) in Hawaii. It wasn’t bad, it was like an oily swordfish.

Do tournament teams put much effort into proper icing of a huge marlin?

I watched the live feed of the weigh in. The announcer said there is an organization (which I cant remember) who takes the fish from the scales puts it in a refrigerated truck and the fish are then used to feed people over the next couple of days.

Live feed was on facebook.

Know him personally, and he’s a great fisherman with an even more impressive competitive spirit. That said, the above state moment is completely inaccurate.
