All the nontoxic stuff is pretty confusing. I'm actually toying with TSS now. The Tungsten Super Shot is the hardest and heaviest available. The turkey guys are pretty keen on it as you can use #9-10 shot and get comparable power to lead #4's with much better pattern density.

A few waterfowlers here in FL are loading them in 20 guages and absolutely destroying ducks using #9 shot. Most say they'll never go back to carrying a 12 gauge again.

Main thing black cloud has going for it is the price. I don't buy into the saturn shaped shot helping NEARLY as much as the wad they have with killing shite. If they made a regular steel load with that wad I think it would work just as well, but not sell as well.

All those fancy alloy shots just cost too much.

And had far less experience than I...


I ran a commercial operation we used black cloud exclusively for 2 seasons w nary a problem

This. I used to shoot 1 3/8 oz #1 3" until they all but quit making it. Holds a good pattern and makes a difference when you're out in the open and the wind is blowing. Only downside is you have to be a good shot to hit with it since you have so many less pellets than the guy using #4 or #6.
