I heard they come with a free box to put your testicles in, since they should be removed for shooting one.

Disclaimer: This applies only to those physically capable of shooting a compound, recurve, or longbow. Testicle removal not required for physically limited hunters.

So its like a .270?

I keed, I keed.

I did shoot a PSE Tac 15 this weekend. It was ridiculously fast. If I was in a bowhunting only club and overran with hogs I'd have one of those.

I don't get the hatred.

A high powered rifle from 100 yards after baiting all off season is real manly though. I think all hunting today has been pussified, I just think crossbows are a more mobile weapon.

I was the same way, now I'm going to have to eat some crow. My shoulder is fried, but that only goes so far at the camp.

I'll revise what I said earlier a little. I don't think they should be legal weapons during archery season for able-bodied folks. Men, women, children, I don't care.

I'm thinking about getting one to hunt hogs. I don't really hunt but enjoy going with my brother when he goes hog hunting. Since we don't "sit and wait" I though a crossbow would be easier to carry.

I still don't understand why it's considered okay to hunt with a high powered rifle but a crossbow is for women and children

I bought mine a few years back, after getting off active duty and back into hunting, the week before bow season because I didn't have time to learn how to bow hunt. I wanted the extra hunting because a couple weeks into gun season the deer go full nocturnal. I don't get to hunt much because of school and Navy Reserve duties and the distance from BR to our lease in Natchitoches so it hasn't been worth it for me to invest in a compound bow when I've already put $300 into a crossbow I have used maybe 15 times.

Different seasons Jack.

Everyone nowadays is getting a crossbow and calling themselves "bowhunters." Killing a deer with a crossbow is exponentially easier than with even the most advanced compound, and is more difficult than killing anything with a high-powered rifle.

Hog season is all year where I live.

I see where the animosity comes from now though. It's the crossbowers who call themselves "bow hunters". I can see where that would be annoying. I swear to only call myself a crossbow hunter.
