Do you prefer Hornady's or Hydra-shoks for self defense?

Nosler Accubond…
165 gr for 308
142 gr for 6.5 PRC

142 gr for 6.5 PRC

I use accubonds too but I use the 140 variety for the 6.5PRC. The Norma Bondstrike is a more economical option.

I’m guessing you’re talking self defense pistol since you asked about hydroshok.
I have Hornady Critical defense in some of mine.
I need to get some speer gold dot though.

HSTs are the standard these days - they're a modern revamped Hydrshok.
Hornady has good stuff too.
I like the Extreme Penetrator from Lehigh Defense as well in certain situations.
I carry different loads in different magazines.
ETA: I handload subsonic 147 grain V Crowns for my home defense P320 suppressed.

I carry hornady critical defense but I’ve never had to use them so I’m really not sure which one does a better job at neutralizing a threat.

Is this just the traditional true answer? Or is there some technological difference maker?
I have Federal Punch in my Shield Plus. All the ballistics tests looked good and it feeds well in my gun.
Is there really a difference between the two Federal JHP ammo?

It’s the answer for me because it’s done great in tests, great in the real world (used by law enforcement), and you can get it in 50 round boxes for a little over 50 cents a round. (Same goes for gold dots but I’ve had a harder time finding deals on them like I’ve seen for HSTs)

Like theduckhunter said..you can get 1000 rounds of HST’s pretty regularly for $499. HST’s have proven results all over the place.
The bigger question for me…is how much can you save by buying the regular jhp from federal? They may work just as well, but for $.50/round…to me it’s a no brainer. Probably where folks are messing up is by buying/comparing the 20 round boxes found in lgs/big box stores.
I have more than a lifetime supply (for myself) of 147gr HST’s…but I add to the collection when I catch them on sale. (Sorry downshift).
My suppressed scorpion shoots them well.
