It’s for my FIL. He likes Nikon and leupold. Vortex makes them; how are they?

HAd a leupold 1000. Ranged something like a box stand out to 600-700 yards. Worked as good as I? needed I?t to. I?t was about 5-6 years old and quit working. Two year warranty. Sent I?t to leupold and they replaced I?t with the 1200 no questions asked. Can’t say enough about the company.

This is the one I think I’m getting for Christmas, and it gets good reviews and is on sale at Cabela’s: Leupold RX-850i TBR

According to this review of laser rangefinders, Carson may be onto something. For the record, I've got a Nikon 1200 I bought 6-7 years ago and have been pleased w/ it. I've used it on many deer hunts and numerous prairie dog hunts. Natchez Shooters Supply frequently has factory refurbs and demos available at deeply discounted prices.
