Do any of you guys use a deer forecast app? If so, which one. I am just asking because over Thanksgiving Dinner, a discussion came about regarding how great and how useless using these apps really are.

I’m almost 48yr old and started deer hunting when I was 7 or 8 . I’m that time I have seen people hunt when cows are on their feet, the almanac and now apps on the iPhone.
The only time I can definitely say they are correct is when they say prime time is the 2-3hrs on each side of daylight and dark!!
Gps study’s have shown moon phase doesn’t impact movements.

Does it have any effect on when fish spawn?

You can believe what you want but I have kept logs for years and 70 percent of the deer killed have been during a primetime according to moon phase

I make a lot of hunts using Drury brothers Deercast charts.

I hunt when I can but have killed more when the moon phase is “correct”. I fish 100% moon phase and tide movement

For bluegill, 100%.

Also ask any ER, EMS, Cop, etc and they will all tell you the full moon always gets the crazy shite. And many companies using analytics (not superstition) will upstaff on days with a full moon to deal with the crazies.

I don't know how it affects deer, but the moon definitely affects many things in nature.

Amen to experience. I've been deer hunting over 60 years and the only prediction advice I can offer is that deer are unpredictable. You have to be at the right place and the right time.

Certain conditions will be more favorable than others but you just have to be out there. At any moment, regardless of moon phase/wind/time of day/cold front, a deer can walk right in front of you.

Now many baws will tell you that wearing Sitka and hunting with the most expensive rifle you can find is the key but don't listen to them.

Not sure about when fish spawn but it effects when crabs shed.
Don’t get me wrong I hate deer hunting during a full moon but the data says it’s coincidence.

Hunt when cows are feeding. Fish when birds are hunting. On Toledo bend, we wait until the eagles are flying to go out. They might be biting outside that, but they definitely bite when that’s going on.

The rut, spawning, all those things throw normal rules out the window, but during normal times…..do as the other animals do.

I used to pay attention to lunar tables for hunting, but now I only pay attention to the wind direction to decide on what stand to use.

I go whenever I have an opportunity to go. You don’t know unless you go.

I read something along these lines recently, and really want to trust it. The problem I have with it is, there seemed to be a pattern at my last lease where deer were in the food plots as I drove to the stand.
